It's time to expose the truth behind the popular Rockville K9 subwoofers! We all remember last year when the infamous version 1's came out, right? They ended up having lots of problems with defective voice coil enamel shedding off, then blowing smoke on rated power. So this big question is... Will the new K9 version 2's perform any better with improved glue, or will they get stinky all over again? After all, that 5,000 watt peak wattage rating makes me a little nervous! So let's find out shall we!? They supposedly improved and upgraded the 10", 12" and 15 inch woofers with bigger and better voice coils! But.... we'll be the best judge of that!!!

Brother, that was a very insightful video. You've really impressed me with the simple yet technically educated way you answer questions that we bass heads sometimes don't know how to ask. I recently blew a Hertz 12 HX 300 D that I'd been saving for the past 12 years...sad to say. I have 2 and only 1 blew in a shared enclosure. In South Africa these things cost an arm and a leg. I now at least have more insight as to why it may have blown. I had been playing them for about a year, when my car's electronics began to go haywire. Gonna have to look for someone to fix the fucker without demanding my entire salary. Thanks again.

I dont know if I'm lucky or what, I have a k9 15 v2 and have been running it at 800- 900 rms for over a year, no problems at all. I have it on the db14 amp. My friend just got the same amp and blew his brand new skar sdr 15 in about 30 minutes. I also broke it in for over a month at around 400 rms. Like I said it's been good so far

Hello Exo I just got my first car actually its not new. And I love good bass pumping all the time going to work its like coffee for me my whole morning is not complete with out hearing those bass from my favorite tunes. I work as a health aide and to be honest can't afford to set up my own system. If I would be blessed to be giving the chance to have those I would be truly great-full. They look like 300Watt coils to me, hence why they smoked. One thing with manufacturer power ratings is they are usually overrated as they assume considerable duty cycle as music is not normally a continuous loud low bass or almost continuous low bass at full power, or from a signal generator. This will in most cases overheat most amps and speakers.

Sorry to here that happened. Why not just contact them directly and ask for the specific changes? I know when the company first started retailing to the public many years ago I was one of the first to buy their RDX-M3 from Amazon. Paid under $150 and blew my kicker 15" comps subs that i had for like 7 months in a matter of days. So, I replace the Kickers with DB's and it gave me yrs of entertainment. Then it died one day after just paying for about 3hrs non-stop in a very hot confined trunk (driveway party). I loved it so much I decided to just keep it for sentimental value and it's been in my shed along with my last living DB-wdx. Plan on getting it fix and putting it in my Classic 1995 Cadillac Deville. But my Rockford Fosgate Punch Amp from that era. Believe it or not still works. LOL....never left my Classic 92 Camaro since I installed it! and still beats hard! They sure don't make'em like they use too!

it's safer to play a 3000w amp than a 300w amp for example because the 300w amp might start clipping at that rating and the 3000w amp won't clip at 300w. Clipping blows speakers just as easily as wattage

Only Rockville products I ever bought was two sets of 5x7s and when the arrived broken pieces of plastic fell out of the box when I opened them. The plastic would break if you put any light pressure on it. Sent them back and never bought anything from them again.

I have fried Rockford Fosgate 18s with a 2000 watt amp. The stuck to the bottom and would not come back lose. It melted the coil wires to the magnet on both 18s. Wasted$1500 but learnt a valuable lesson. Don't trust the ratings

Every amp is wired different!!! I have a 1500 watt boss amp that only pushes 500 watts max,just think of that. They probably use their "Rockville" amps to run it to 5000.

I bought 2 Rockville punishers 12s and both broke in less than a year the d1 can’t handle a .8 load and the d2 tinsel leads broke in 5 months on less than rated power 😮 and the Rockville rep said that it was because my box was too small by .12 they don’t honor their warranty’s their BBB Rating is F this co. Should not be allowed to do business

That's a PA speaker with woofer cone , those twin spiders are meant for pa speakers which doesn't needs to go too much x max like a subwoofer does . Why does it have a harder suspension like spl subs . The whole design is wrong , the spiders needs to have more more circumference .

There’s absolutely no Subwoofer, that can handle their rated max power indefinitely. I’ve blown many subwoofers like that, I always buy 2 subwoofers and if they’re each rated at 1,000 CEA Rms two would equal 2,000 CEA Rms and then I would buy a class D Amplifier rated at 1,500 Rms to prevent the subwoofers from blowing up. The peak power rating means they can handle a sudden note at that peak wattage it doesn’t mean constant power handling
