Ok....true story....in the early 2000s, I met an Australian online, he paid for my first trip there but I paid for 5 yrs of going back and forth. We had a great relationship until I found out that he planned on enrolling my kids in to boarding school 8 hours away instead of a local public school(they weren't his). That was the end of that one.

Well I have been to Egypt. I was 29 and I stayed for 3 weeks. I had actually gone to visit my "lover" whom I met here in America when he came from Egypt for training because he was in the Egyptian military. We had a wonderful time for a year and a half here in the USA. Well... when I went to Cairo i discovered quite a few distortions (ok...lies) that he had told. I swear I had barely gotten out of the airport to begin the holiday and I decided "oh well at least I get to have a vacation in Egypt. I did it all .. went all the way to the top of the pyramid inside ( not that easy btw) , a rode a camel.. I mean I literally got to do so many things that I imagine a normal tourist doesn't get the opportunity to do. I visited families in their homes, went to the zoo and got special treatment because I was with 3 Egyptians. It was a spectacular trip. I really do think he loved me...BUT I also became very aware that he also was interested in an American citizenship. I don't blame him . I didn't, however, contine the relationship after my return. I actually loved him. That's why I truly do not understand WHY anyone would do this love rat crap. I apologize if it seems judgemental. I don't mean it to be. I genuinely just don't get it. Personally I believe learning to love yourself is vital. I had a long hard road in my love life which is why I chose to stay single. I guess at 64 God figured i was well enough to be part of a couple and I was literally blindsided, but definitely in a good way. March will be 7 years. I cant even imagine ever being without him. These women are SO desperate for love and attention that they will knowingly enter into a relationship for instant gratification and / or because of low self- esteem. Only to discover that they had been had. I say knowingly, because unless you're living under a rock, there is no way that one can be unaware of the major red flags and alarm bells going off. They even admit having reservations committing to a person they know little about. They did not listen to that "little voice in their head," telling them that things were not adding up. I believe that they follow thru with these "relationships," as crazy as it sounds, out of embarrassment. I personally have a friend who married & had 2 kids w/ a loser guy because , at the time, all of the friends in her group, myself included, had already met, married, started a family. I had an aunt who did the same. At the time, neither were "spring chickens" & felt the pressure to "settle down."

True, but it depends on the country. My former companion of 10 years was from Denmark. Excellent background, high level of education, he worked for many years in one of our french universities with a PHD, was an outstanding self made cook and NEVER asked me for a penny. Of course, men in eastern and southern countries have another mentality that I don't like, that doesn't mean any love from another country is bad. My brother's love life is just... perfect. Like me, he's french and met the love of his life (half swiss and half american - she was born in Chicago !) in... London ! They are happily married for 35 years now.

Same thing could have happened to my cousin when she got to know an Armenian man she began to be fond of, but in the end it somehow came out that he had a wife and six children back home. This is similar to so very many cases of British men who get awfully tricked and robbed of all their money by Thai women. There are so many accounts about such cases on YT that Sean could well do a couple of vids dealing with this topic. Go and find a mate belonging to a culture you don't know even in the slightest and who speaks a language you know not a single word of, but do it at your own risk.

Pro-tip: Foreigners are not allowed to own property in Thailand. This is how a lot of men get conned. They buy the property with their money, put it in their Thai wife's name and then wind up with nothing. Quite a few years ago, a Brit was murdered by his Thai wife and her lover because he had served his purpose.

I've been catfished before. I have had several attempts at catfishing but the first time it happened I fell for it. It really does affect your ability to trust. I hope these women get the resolutions they are looking for. Thankfully, I was not taken to the cleaners so I was able to just walk away and didn't have to worry about divorcing a dirtbag or trying to sue a dirtbag to get my money back. I just cut a dirtbag out of my life. Considering what these women went through, I got off easy
