The lack of vision to share content with channels who are promoting the game is so frustrating. I have also had the same issue with vision and when I hear what the NBA are doing I just shake my head. Great vid.

Appreciate that, thanks for watching. What the AFL are failing to comprehend is that fans tend to pick up on things that even commentators and ex players don't see. We are actually experts at watching the sport we love, personally I have around 40 years of experience watching this great game and feel as if I have something to offer, as you so quite rightly mentioned, to help promote the game. How is someone overseas truly meant to appreciate the greatness of someone like a Scott Pendelbury from just a generic highlights package? It's the intricacies of our game that make it so special and so unique, yet mainstream media rarely ever pay homage to these moments and we aren't allowed to. In NBA coverage, everybody wins. In AFL coverage, everybody loses.

Been looking for channels for afl content related stuff like this, player analysis and club breakdowns like the one you did with north Melbourne and Melbourne. Love watching the similar stuff related to basketball and nfl and for those there’s so much where for obvious reasons there’s only really 3-4 for afl. Would’ve loved the pendles vid bro, unlucky but please keep going. ❤

Similar thing happened to me, but with a T-shirt design on Redbubble. In my case, I deliberately didn’t use any AFL logo images. Just the words: “Melbourne 2021 Premiers” in red and blue font.

Watching channels such as thinkingbasketball, jimmyhighroller and motownnoah taught me about the ins and outs of the NBA. I knew how to play basketball but never had an interest in following it. Now I follow the NBA almost as closely as the AFL and cricket. Media on KZbin has the potential to be the most powerful tool in promoting AFL to a global audience

Not necessarily wanting to support the AFL who cannot seem to be consistent with what started out as very basic rules of the game re free kicks but to compare what is going on in the NBA where viewership has crashed whilst the AFL has increased is a joke. The NBA commissioner who you referenced is so anti country that god help us if our AFL bosses end up this way although I do have a suspicion that that is the way our game is going.

Not the topic I was thinking of when I clicked on the video but absolutely a great point. Like you said at the end, the game needs to grow internationally and it will struggle with that if content creators can't use footage (or monetize videos with footage). Do you think part of the problem is foxtel? like that's the only place to see all games each week and from what I understand aren't very friendly to outside parties and a little behind of accepting new technology. It seems like foxtel can do what they like, I remember stories from when the NBN was being debated. News corp/ foxtel was making the liberal party run with a much worse proposal so News corp could keep alternative media outlets (like youtubers) at bay because the countries internet would be worse. I'm not saying that's completely true, but they do seem like the kind of company to hardcore about copyright laws around 'their content' Also the US sports are super accessibly in terms of highlights and content around each sport and most leagues don't just have one channel they are shown on. Individual games are shown on one channel only but not every game of every round. this drive innovation and moves everyone forward.

I'm not sure about Foxtel and how they operate but it all appears to be one big club that we aren't invited to. It really is to the detriment of the game though. We have so much choice these days with what we can consume but the AFL wishes to stay in the dark ages...so be it. I'm pretty sure the NFL is just as bad and are just as over protective of their vision. The point i forgot to make in the video, which was stupid of me, was just how popular the NBA has become to the younger generation. My children could care less about Aussie Rules yet spend money on Jordan brand shoes, Miami Heat jerseys, NBA 2k and they consume content which as mentioned benefits everyone involved financially. Every single cent that my kids spend on sports goes to the NBA. It's sad that they wouldn't know the Bont, Dusty, Cripps, etc if they walked past them in the street but they sure as hell know who Steph, Lebron, KD, ANT and Wembanyama are...

@@aflinsight2023 absolutely, the afl or who is making the decision is trying to keep everything to themselves which is only alienating younger viewers. I'm in my early 30s, I would guess everyone younger than me barely watching traditional TV any more. Streaming/ on demand content is the future and if the afl does not catch on, the sport we love will die. Absolutely, American sports teams and mainly the NBA is so much more appealing to young people due to its accessibility, like you said, despite the fact it's 10 of thousands of kms away. Same goes for football (soccer) in Europe. You will see people walking around in Man U, Liverpool or arsenal jerseys or lakes, heat or caverliers before any afl team. Truely a massive issue for the league
