I am an Indonesian Christian. if it is said that Islam was spread peacefully in Indonesia that is not true. I come from the Batak ethnicity (Tapanuli) where our tribe was already Christian which was previously reached by missionaries who carried out evangelism. but in 1860, our area experienced cruelty from another region (West Sumatra) whose population was Muslim who attacked and forced them to embrace Islam. those who are not willing will be killed. they committed genocide. They succeeded in converting the southern region to Islam, only the northern region which they did not conquer. This is our area now in Indonesia, which is predominantly Christian. The history of the atrocities until now has been told by our ancestors how cruel the attacks were carried out by the Muslims.

Before the wide spread of islamic kingdom in Indonesia it was predominantly ruled by a Hindu kingdom called Majapahit (the history is definitely more than a few sentences in my comments) during the reign of Majapahit king Brawijaya the 6th (if i recall correctly) his son called Raden Patah who was a muslim was influenced by islamist to atk his father palace n take control of said kingdom, his father Brawijaya refuse to wage war against his son so the kingdom collapse n Raden Patah made a sultanate n established islam as the religion, some of the Majapahit Hindu tribe who refused to convert to Islam went into exile at the remote area surrounding mouth Bromo some are believed went to the island of Bali and settled there also, hence this 2 areas are still predominantly Hindu up until now, not only that it is believed that the sultanate made by Raden Patah also committed the erasure of historical documents that is why although the Majapahit kingdom was considered to be prosperous and ruled over a large area there are not a lot of historical documents recording it, the thumbnail on this video says Indonesia is the only place Islam spread peacefully? Well that isn't entirely true they only say that because they didn't know the history, oh uhh the story above is just one instance i suppose there is also something called the padri war that was wage by islamist at Sumatra to make the surrounding tribes there to become muslims
