Yes, that's great - expose them as much as you can. I acutally don't really care, if some people "steal money" from a greedy company like google (who has ruined KZbin, compared to what it once was, anyway), by getting payed for views, that would otherwise not be there (because that's what all is about. There are probably very few people who put up fake content, just for fun. At least not electronics - political content could be a different story though. It's pretty much all about geting an easy way to make money). But, it has gotten to a level where it indirectly becomes a problem foreveryone - especially beginers (who try to build shit that doesn't work and often think they do something wrong them self and because of that wastes a lot of time). Like 50% of KZbin content is fake nowadays.

You are doing a great service by debunking their disservice. I started with electronics when I was 14 (over 40 years ago) and though it is not my occupation I still play around with it as a hobby. What those channels are doing is beyond dishonest because they not only present BS as facts but also discourage people who want to learn. They will try and make one of those circuits work when it doesn't they won't be able to understand why which may frustrate them to the point of giving up. So, yes, keep fighting the good fight :)

While it's obvious that circuits like these can't work at radio frequencies, it should be noted that the capacitive load of a passive scope probe will affect the circuit and most common oscilloscopes can't measure such high frequencies anyway.

Past 3G all 3GPP standards have used multi-band radios, so a single band jammer wouldn't work anyway. This combined with the split signal on each band having less power than the cosmic RF background radiation gets into some very interesting physics.
2 күн бұрын
Even 2G at least in Germany uses the 900 and 1800 MHz bands. Though in a rural area, a single-band jammer could work since often times, there only is 800 and/or 900 MHz LTE available there. Most commercial jammers jam all sorts of bands.
@esuomi
@esuomi Күн бұрын
It's unfortunately a (lot) more complicated than that. For example in Germany for the O2 operator on the 900MHz band has frequencies 880 to 890MHz (downlink) and 925 to 935MHz (uplink) reserved for their use, and both are divided up to 8 simultaneous connections, practically meaning 8 simultaneous full duplexes, probably frequency based so 1,25MHz send/receive for a single device. "Wait, only 8? But there's like 15 000 people in one area!" Yeah, now we're already jumping into Time Division Duplex, asymmetricity and literal quantum mechanics...and we're only in 2G! Anyway, multi-band radios mean they can use multiple channels within one band allocation simultaneously, so that still sticks, it's just a lot lot lot lot more complex than one could imagine right off the bat, and the silly thing is - even if you knew almost nothing or you knew way too much about all this, the end result/solution would still be teh same one, just jam everything :)
Күн бұрын
@@esuomi 1.25 MHz is CDMA, O2 uses GSM however, which has 200kHz channels (they have 6.4 MHz LTE by having a 10 MHz channel with some LTE RBs being blanked + 3.2 MHz GSM by the way). TDD also isn't used on GSM, but TDMA. Anyways, that's not the point I'm trying to make. The point is, that for short distances it's relatively easy to especially mess up LTE (GSM and NR are much more resilient) by straight up flooding the spectrum with noise. I tried for myself and even a Raspberry Pi with RPiTX and 1/2 length wire antenna apparently was enough to kill the signal for like 10ft. The harmonics caused even killed LTE band 3. On GSM, the MCS got completely messed up. This would be enough for anyone with malicious intentions in mind.

Absolutely right!! We can’t block or boost mobile RF signal by simply these things. The mobile RF system use complex modulation technique such as OFDMA and transmission technique such as MIMO will make them more immune to external interferences. The frequency hopping spread spectrum technique will spread the signal over a wide frequency range, making it more resistant to interference and noise. Modern mobile communication systems employ sophisticated error detection and correction algorithms, such as Forward Error Correction (FEC) and Automatic Repeat request (ARQ). These techniques detect errors in the received data and correct them automatically. It also adapt to changing conditions by adjusting parameters like transmission power, modulation schemes, frequency band and data rates based on environmental conditions. From these observations it is very clear that mobile jamming / boosting is not a simple task. It requires more specialized RF IC and well-designed antenna systems along with complex signal processing algorithms.
2 күн бұрын
FHSS isn't used on LTE/5G and if there only is 900 MHz GSM/LTE available, a simple single band jammer would technically be enough. However, often times you have all sorts of bands available.

RF jamming is EXTREMELY simple, so simple in fact it is possible to do it accidentally, all you have to do is (metaphorically) scream louder than the nearest tower on all the frequencies you want to block. What isn't simple is SELECTIVELY jamming ONLY mobile phone signals and doing it in a way that doesn't end up with you destroying your device while a representative of the FCC (or your local equivalent) observes you.

Back in my days i was taught by good old school techs, engineers and also my father who was an electrical engineer with extensive knowledge in industrial and digital electronics... Today we open a video streaming platform and we find this junk!. I try putting myself in the mindset of an electronics hobbyist in his o her first steps into this great trade and hobby and i feel so bad for them and how discouraging their "unknown" failures at building some circuit because of these fake channels with fake impossible-to-work "circuits". They need to be exposed, reported and get them shut down so people who bring good teaching and valid content can get the recognision they deserve. Thanks for your work on your videos as you bring solid content every time.

Hey GreatScott! Your videos are 100% informative and always truthful. I have been watching your videos for years now. Unfortunately channels with fake circuits get millions of views while real educational channels like yours hardly get the exposure they deserve. While making new exposé videos, i would suggest to add a bit of *drama* so that KZbin algorithm will pick up these videos. I know that has never been your style but in order to survive this algorithm, you will have to give it what it wants :(

Mr Great Scott, thanks for the informative video, since you busted fake camera tutorials we need a video to make a board which will help us salvage old smartphone camera sensors

Indeed I enjoyed the video and also learned a few things. Maybe better ignore those sites, if not, there are many... so this might soon become a full time job!

You know what, it might actually be kinda based to advertise a "jammer" circuit that doesn't work, and make sure it stays at the top of search results so that it funnels in everyone too stupid to realize it can never actually work. Not this one though. One that's truly harmless.

Expose them. These people are making money by promoting fake products.

Well done, sir. As I am interested but somewhat inept on electtronics, I fear to easily fall prey to someone like the channe mentioned. So, I am really fine with seein more like this. BTW your hidden gems series is also really cool. Thanks a lot for your work.

Interesting concept. I have played with the NE555 for years but never thought to use it like this. It does make a 'relatively' stable clock source, can be make into a pseudo pwm circuit, and many other things. I mostly use it as an add on for LED blinking in some models. Like most things I find on the internet, there is a lot of bost, not much boost. Peace

My first impulse was: Yeah, expose more of them. But in the end there will be nothing learned. So finally I think, it’s better to ignore them.
