The thing that strikes me about Sabine, and that I hope is paid off in the books somewhere, is that she could have gotten everything she ever wanted (aside from a living, respectable daughter who wasn't involved in a bunch of sinister secret shit) with just a single fucking ounce of civility and humility. Literally, at any point in the past two years, she could have gone to Bryce and said, 'listen, I know we've never gotten along and that I've always been a massive bitch to you, but please... I just need to know where her sword is. It's a family heirloom and so on, I know she left it at your work... can you at least tell me what you did with it? Please?' Even if she then immediately went back to being a complete shithead, who slutshames Bryce and bosses everyone around like a total asshole, that one act of vulnerability would have at least got her a real answer. The fact that she doesn't, and that this would never even occur to her, is fucking great and I wish I had more of an examination of how much of a psycho idiot she is.
