some students are confused how 100x100 or 1000x1000 appears in denominator ,here is the explanation I hope it will help you. That is very basic, all the units must be same .If you are going with centimeter then in denominator it comes 100x100 as the same if you are going through all unit in millimeter there is a factor 1000x1000 but interesting point is how 100 or 1000 coming in picture,then following is the explanation and I think that will help you. 1. FF has no unit so put it as it is. 2. If thick and HVT in same unit no need to convert it as thickness comes in numerator and HVT COMES IN DENOMINATOR so the unit will not affect your calculation but when these are in different unit ,you need to convert it in same unit. 3. Now SFD comes in the picture and it is up to you which unit you are going with ,suppose SFD in centimeter then make sure all the unit must be in centimeter. 4. RHM as RHM is roentgen hours meter ,so it is very clear you need convert hours for per minute(if exposure time is being calculated in minute) so for that there is factor 60 will be multiplied in numerator to calculate exposure in minute and for meter you need to convert it centimeter there is factor of 100x100 ,how it comes,as you know intensity at 1 meter is .5 roentgen if you calculate intensity at 1centimeter and apply inverse square law you get this factor of 100x100
