This have just blown my mind. As a spanish speaking person married to an english speaking person, this makes absolute sense! From now on I will approach every argument/conversation with an "essay" structure. I think it will make my life so much easier! Thanks for breaking this down!

Hi kim. Your lessons are excellent but i face dificulties to follow and understand yr paragraphs due to removing the silence time . I would recommend to leave the silence time as is . You may share this point to your followers and consider the most appriporiate feedback. Thx
@Englishwithkim
@Englishwithkim 2 жыл бұрын
I understand what you're saying. Cutting out the silence is super common on KZbin to keep people's attention and to make videos as short as possible. That said, it doesn't work for everyone. In my more recent videos, I make an effort to leave more space between ideas.

When you have an unhappy client, this is when it is even more important to use this simple, effective structure to deliver your message. Generally when someone is in a bad mood, they have less patience to wait for the main point.

This is great information! I felt like I was listening to a reporter or eLearning voiceover (very sing song). 😅 I also wouldn't agree with everything in this video. Overall, good info. (I used to teach ESL).
@Englishwithkim
@Englishwithkim 3 жыл бұрын
Well, if you used to teach ESL, then you know what it's like to adapt your voice and speaking style to help people follow what you're saying! This video is intended as a starting place for non-native speakers who are often given vague feedback on how they express their ideas. As with any guidance or advice, it's up to each person to experiment and find what works best for them.

I believe and believe that where English comes from and start speaking with handles because if you talk to others, then what will be spoken next?, You will not understand, then you will speak with confidence, it is not my mother tongue, it is another language for me, I can't speak fluently, so the another person will don't make fun you, I believe that
@Englishwithkim

Could you clarify what you mean by "speaking with handles?" Are you talking about understanding and predicting the flow of conversation?

People watching KZbin videos have different levels of English proficiency. This is why I include captions/subtitles on all of my videos. I choose to speak at a normal speed in my videos because I work with advanced and fluent English speakers. There are many other English-related channels on KZbin if my videos are not helping you.

As I mentioned in this video, you want to be able to better use the language that you already have in order to communicate clearly. In my opinion, there are not specific phrases or sentences that will help you sound more fluent. Learning how to organize and present your ideas is more important.

true English audience wants to not to learn they just want the speaker to tell them what they will tell then tell again what you told.....
@Englishwithkim
@Englishwithkim 2 жыл бұрын
Telling people what you're going to tell them is about setting expectations. When you're telling them, they'll be more likely to remember what you said because you're repeating it again. When you summarize what you've said, you help cement the ideas in their memory.

Interesting! I think my voice may sound a little strained because I'm speaking at the higher end of my vocal range. I notice I sometimes do this when I'm trying to project my voice into the microphone. Besides that, even though this video is short, I had been recording videos for hours at this point. My voice was tired, as was my brain.
