my great grandson is 31 months old and has not mastered any of the 11 prelinguistic skills. Which one of your manuals do you recomment that would best help me help him. I cannot afford them all.

Hi Fran. The best one for working on prelinguistic skills is definitely Let's Talk About Talking. The second choice would be Teach Me to Play WITH You because it helps you focus on teaching him to stay with you, connect and respond, and begin to associate meaning as he learns to imitate you. I hope those recommendations help! Thank you so much for your question!

Hello, my son is 36 months and is highly suspected ASD. When he was 18 months he made the effort to speak but as the time progressed he gave up. He would say random words but does not communicate verbally. He can communicate non verbally by pointing to what he wants. What's your advice at this stage for me to help him to communicate verbally. I would really appreciate your help and would do anything to get in touch with you for further assistance.

@@sanjivejadjad Just writing to tell you to stay strong an positive. Some of these children make a lot of progress. You may feel down now but please know than things change with therapy. You can look at Henen book for helping children to talk. You can also purchase her book (look up the title).

Why are you talking to parents like they are children? Why do you have such a big smile on your face about such a serious subject? Parents are heartbroken when they find out their child has autism, so please be more serious about this.

I’m sorry but I’d rather watch someone like this than some depressing person with a serious demeanor. Yes it is a touchy subject and a person like this eases that. Maybe focus on the content instead of criticizing someone who’s actually good at their job

@@oliviateixeira4151 , maybe somewhere in the middle would be best. I don't like being talked to like a child.

@@anneliesewright662 I think she's just an expressive speaker. Please don't take this as an attack, because I truly don't mean it to come off that way, but it sounds like you might be offended by her tone because you might be heartbroken about your circumstances, and you're kind of taking it out on her. If that is the case, then first, I'm very sorry and my heart goes out to you. Second, I encourage you to try your hardest to hold on to hope and have faith that everything will be okay. By you watching this, I can tell you're trying your best to help your child. Know that you already have a beautiful, wonderfully made child, and all that you're trying to do will just add to that. That faith alone changes your tone and disposition and that's critical for such circumstances (not to mention, is much more helpful to you child too). Again, not trying to attack you (the LAST thing the internet needs is more negativity), but just trying to offer another perspective, and wishing you and your family well...
