It would be awesome if there was a separate category for real street vehicles that you actually see on every road, like SUVs, Pickups, crossovers etc. Like it really was in the early days of the Dakar. That way, normal people could also participate with their cars.

There is it’s called T2 only few modifications suspension and few other things but this year only 3 drivers are in this class and there is no real competition

The vehicles need at least a suspension modification, no way on earth a stock suspension on any civilian vehicle could withstand the abuse of a single special, let alone the whole rally.

I was absolutely blown away! The commentary was in-depth, informative and exciting all at the same time. It was great to get an inside look into the action of the race and hear the commentary team's perspective on the twists and turns. The commentator had an impressive amount of knowledge and was able to provide insight into the strategies and strategies of different teams. I would highly recommend listening to the commentary for the Dakar Rally to anyone who is interested in the sport! 5 stars!

all the bikes are restricted now to 450cc, large capacity petrol tanks front and rear with min 35-45litres I imagine, Huskies, KTM, Gas Gas, Hero, Honda and Yamaha are the main manufacturers in the mix

The hardest and most painfull competition of history. Not just driving flat out, but navigating too. everyday 500km+ on a hard surface to controll. Especially hard for the people without a team that has to fix their bikes when they end the stage and do everything their own.

when you're travelling to the tents. some places could have 50kph limit because there is people and other vehicles in the area. where as on the stage u can go flat out. usually just before or just after the start/finish line

can someone explain to me how you can be fined for speeding in a race??? It was my understanding its a race and the shortest time after all the stages determined who wins. I can understand penalties for missing checkpoints but going too fast??

In a long rally u are sometimes on a public road having to follow the law

Sometimes they ride by local roads so they have to respect the law and also sometimes they ride near by a village or public places where they have to slow down to care about those places. Not being penalised is algo part of being fast 🤟💪

Dakar is a tsd format rally. T-- time S- speed D- distance Nkw the road book is highlighted with a speed marker a driver going way about that speed limit through that waypoint will get penalty as well as the penalties for driving on liasion stages which are normal roads.

Liasion sections, as mentioned near the beginning of the video, are the non-competition sections used to get to/from the competitive section. These are where one can get speeding penalties.
