Now you would wonder, clearly the French clubs are dominating this competition, why is the French team not the best in the world? Because 50% of their clubs teams are foreigners…

So what. Same in soccer, basketball and most every other club game. It not a parish sport at this level.

Absolutely untrue. France has a strict system called JIFF to promote players who were trained in France from a young age, this system was established so that teams couldn't just signed the best foreign players and let young french players on the side. In top 14, you have to bring 16 JIFF players in average during games if you don't want to face sanctions and clubs are limited to 13 no JIFF players. Currently, french clubs have between 42 and 24% of no JIFF players, far from 70%

@@aidanmasterson50 First of all, do you really want rugby turning into soccer or basketball? Nobody wants that. Rugby has always been about tradition and homegrown talent, not just a game for mercenaries. And let’s be real if 50% of club players are foreign, it’s not fair to the clubs that focus on local talent or operate with smaller budgets. They’re competing in the same league but under completely different conditions. Club dominance is great, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of fair competition or the national team’s success.

@@Clowdono Interesting, but your numbers seem a bit off. While JIFF is a good initiative, its effectiveness is debatable. For example, a recent analysis of the Top 14 squads showed that several clubs barely meet the JIFF requirement, with some rosters consisting of closer to 35-40% foreign players. Also, while the rule limits 13 non-JIFF players in a matchday squad, loopholes exist: players naturalized or developed elsewhere often count as JIFF. Clermont, for instance, fields nearly 50% foreign-born players despite technically meeting JIFF averages. So, while the 16 JIFF player average sounds good on paper, it doesn’t fully reflect reality, especially when the biggest stars dominating these games are largely non-French.

@ this team contributes more players to the French national team than any other. The same with Leinster and the Irish national team. Yet these forums are littered with similar comments to yours constantly about both teams, despite them both having academies to die for and it’s just because they are successful.

here here Scottish commentators " the din becomes a hush", "swings a languid boot at that one", way better than the usual crappy remarks
