I was stuck on a bus that morning, on my way to the Lincoln Tunnel, when they stopped all traffic from entering NYC. A whole day and night and more we sat on that highway until they got us turned around (they had men digging and clearing the meridian for us) when all of a sudden 100's of neighbors who lived by the highway ALL CAME OUT AND BROUGHT EVERYONE WATER, SANDWICHES, NEWS..They were our heroes too! Someone would have seen them coming. In the tapes, you can hear them getting ready to crash. And did you ever see a plane like that crash that had sped up to intentionally crash? The crash site looked completely in keeping with that scenario. They were going at a ridiculous speed, so it wouldn't be surprising for an engine to come apart. There was a crater where they had hit, and of course things going at that speed and angle are going to create a massive debris field, sending out projectiles everywhere. Frankly, i find it gross that you would perpetuate a known fake conspiracy theory instead of honoring these people.

This was a powerful but hard interview to watch. I cried several times as I watched. I remembered my 7 yr old grandson waking me up, telling me something was wrong. His mom had just left for work and the TV was on and the Twin Towers were burning. I remember he kept asking me what was wrong and why was I crying. Watching these 2 pilots state that they were willing to sacrifice their lives to save the White House and knowing that the people of Flight 93 had done the same....it brought back all the sorrow of thousands of lives lost...and all the courage and bravery. The tears just fell again and again. I asked my grandson if he remembered that day and he told me he remembered it clearly and that he started crying watching me cry. He said he remembered that I held him as we cried together.

A big part of that discontent is we had a president who attempted to overthrow our democracy because he lost the election. And not only was he not instantly detained the same as we would a terrorist, half of the voting populace are trying to help him get away with it. All while he’s publicly stating that if he avoids prosecution and wins the next election that he fully intends on exacting revenge on everyone who has tried to hold him accountable. I don’t think that can be reconciled. Ever.

I literally cried watching this - thank you both from the very bottom of my American heart. Bless you. I was working in Georgetown at that time. My window looked out on M Street with Key Bridge just a couple of blocks away. My wife called me after each of two of the planes had hit. After her second call I looked outside, and M Street was jammed with cars and pedestrians streaming towards the bridge, over the bridge and into Crystal City. I'm a WWII buff, and it looked just like the Poles or the French attempting to evade the invading Nazis 70 years ago.

We met Penny at a small airport near DC before 9/11. This little girl, looks to be 16, pulls up in a pickup, ties her dog to the truck, and heads out to her hand-propped Tailor Craft airplane. It's getting dark but she wanted to get in some touch and go's. We played with the dog while she did a bunch of patterns. Was pretty dark by the time she quit. Turns out this "16 year old" was the F16 weapons system instructor for the Air National Guard. Nicest person ever. Had dinner with her at her friends house. Lost touch over the years but I always think of her on 9/11 and thank her for her efforts. I hope she sees this. We were the couple towing the helicopter. N7064D.

And if you want to hear more about the entire experience in Canada for those few days when the airspace was closed, there is a musical about it called Come From Away based on the true stories. Even if you don't want to watch the musical, check out videos of the interview of the people. It's wild. I've actually met one of the Captains who was diverted, Captain Beverley Bass. And another paid one here -- What was fantastic about an interview that's story has yet to be verified. In order to believe this tale, one has to believe that our entire Air Force and Missile Defense Office was sleeping or out to lunch???? The USAF has ARMED planes 24-7 over the US airspace - furthermore no high level decision maker would sacrifice two pilots and their expensive planes when one phone call to the MDA would be made to use a surface to air missile to bring down the plane - Penney is peddling this story and getting paid to do so, yet curiously, our Media doesn't display one ounce of interest in investigating her tale - not one bit. This is nothing more than a concocted feel-good girl power (Saving Private Ryan) story playing on the patriotism of the American people. I'm sure a movie-deal is in the making😁😁😂😂

I'm Ex-Navy, served a combat tour in Iraq with the Marines, and even I'm in awe of the bravery of these two pilots, those on flight 93, and the many other hero's that day that gave their life - and were willing to make the make the ultimate sacrifice that day to protect Americans. Like "Lucky" said during the interview, the military doesn't train us to go on suicide missions. But these two had balls of steel, and I'm even honest enough to admit that I'm not so sure if I would've had the resolve to ram my jet into another. Would I have done it? I'd like to say I would have, but I def. would've thought about it twice before committing. @@lukeryan9277 I know people in the National Guard and they told me that there is no way they wouldn't have had missiles. They were protecting the national capital not a field in Pennsylvania. The way they talk, especially Ms. MoneyPenny, is so stilted and unnatural for a top gun fighter pilot. By the way, who cares if you're from London, dude.

I was a teacher in a classroom with distraught children. A student asked if she could pray. She asked God to protect America. My son called me from Boston. His father in law was headed to Washington DC and was in the air. He could not be reached. A boy raised his hand and said God hears the prayers of children my mother says. Tears were glistening in my eyes. We could hear planes out of the NAS. It was comforting and concerning at the same time.

incorrect time to point out, that was their job or should have been. An hour later with no armaments. Sounds like trillions spent* Sadly enough, I can't display an American Flag as a patriot, because it is now used as a symbol by non-questioning, one way political leaning, under-educated (purposefully) emoji humans. I can only fly the flag or wear my shirt on the 4th of July. I wish that wasn't the case. 20 years ago, this wasn't the case. Sad

How much were you paid to make this comment? Utter nonsense of a story that has yet to be verified - Why would decision-makers sacrifce two pilots and two expensive jet fighters when a simple missile strike would have done the job? Let's interview the "Crew chiefs" that ensured the planes were ready; let's interview the then Commander, Air Combat Command who's role it would have been to defend the nation's skies in a time of crisis. While were at it, let's interview the former Director, Ballistic Missile Defense Office now known as the Missile Defense Agency, to see what he has to say regarding this alleged suicide mission of the World's strongest military as if what these two are claiming, we have BIG ISSUES in our nation's defense and I'm quite sure a former 4-star general and SES equivalent would highly disagree.

@@jeffreyknight3884I think what you're missing here, is there had been some hi-jackings in the past, and every single time they'd just fly around, and negotiate down, it never ended like that. And pilots were instructed to cooperate and comply with any hi jackers, don't know why, but this what they were told. Those initial 2 planes that hit, they thought the same would happen. They'd fly around for a while, negotiate, and then land. It was only after the first 2 planes that people on the 3rd plane found out about what happened (people were able to make calls, presumably when altitude got low enough) and when they did find out, they went down with a fight. I guarantee you if the people on the first 2 planes knew what was going to happen, they all would have went down Fighting, and I can guarantee you even more, that if something like this were to happen today, you'd have every single person on the plane rushing them. No chance anybody gets away with it these days. It was unfortunate that airports at that time were more focused on customer service, and quickly cycling people through the airport, as opposed to the security of them, and I couldn't be more glad that things have swapped today, I only wish they were always this way.
