Just amazing. I also admire such amazing team work. In our world, you want a barn? Pay an absolute ton to have a builder take 6 months to construct it. 30 years later it collapses. I bet this barn will last a long ass time.

It's amazing how they all work together. I grew up near Amish country in Upstate NY and I have always been amazed by their lifestyle. I'm sure they have problems just like anyone else, but they do practice what they preach.

It helps having a crew of about 60 guys who all know how to swing a hammer. I can't even get my son and son-in-law to lift a finger to help.

That was incredible! Great work. There must have been a lot of panning and preparation for that to run so soothly. Great way to build a barn and build community. Congratulations to all involved.

Wish they showed the food the women set up for the men...It looks easy as doing up your boots and go to it...But this took many hours of planning and cutting material and stocking it all just right...The older hands are also teaching the younger ones as well...My father was first rate at doing this stuff with not as good a crew as they have here...God bless them all...

i read where you say this took place over a 10 hour period did i read that right Our company uses an Amish framing crew ( 7 men ) and they build a house in 3 or 4 days other crews take 2 weeks this was great to watch

i dont believe you have a true understanding unless you have lived with them or among them or worked with them for an extended period of time. they are the biggest bunch of hypocrites i know, or have ever met, and the things that go on behind closed doors, is down rite shocking and disgusting, with all the inbreeding and things there are how they hide away certain people would make your stomach crawl, now the majority, yes they have a great work ethic and most are great men, but i have seen alot of terrible things, from this community, and i lived around the Amish all my life.
@michaelg38457 жыл бұрын
the power of community is clearly lost. The Amish show us what working together with mutual trust can achieve.

I appreciate that you acknowledged the fact that most are great men and have a great work ethic. Though we've made an effort to keep comments positive on these videos, I wouldn't want anyone thinking that because the Amish are hard-working and have a lot of great attributes that they are perfect or something to romanticize. (I wish things could be that simple.) I sat for a few minutes deciding whether I would approve you're comment, knowing that many (if not most people) might begin to build a stereotype in their mind of the Amish based on what stands out to them in your statement. Unfortunately, it seems wherever there are people, there is trouble and particularly when people feel they have no one to answer to. Most are Christians and are wonderful people

No engineers, clerks of works, superintendents' OSHA bullshit or other hangers on with 'construction degrees'. No cranes, machinery or months long building schedules. No BS. Just "git 'er done". Credit where it is due. This is an amazing feat of cooperation and of carpentry/construction skills. Considering that the livelihood of most participants is farming and not construction and that most possess not more than 8th-grade education makes it all the more amazing. I have the utmost admiration for the people and what was accomplished in the video.

Awesome video, but I have a question. What is up with that truck in the lower right section of the frame? I thought Amish were not allowed to use that type of vehicle? Forgive my ignorance.
@Shmozone8 жыл бұрын
From what I can tell from 30 seconds of research, there are exceptions. If it isn't their car and they aren't driving, it's okay. They are also allowed to use motorized wheel chairs, advanced medical equipment ect.
@pennym.5427 жыл бұрын
That's my husband's truck, he ran a couple errands for them. Also, out of the shot are at least five trucks with people sitting watching the work going on. It's quite a sight to see.
