How smart he is. I am really impressed.

Director Dolan is disarmingly unpretentious, and the fact that he is not, as I understand it, a graduate of a film school, means that he does not have auteur theory or film semiotics guiding his films. I'm guessing therefore that from his experience working as an actor since the age of 5, and growing up immersed in contemporary popular film/tv culture, his artistic impulses are authentically his own - which makes his output (5 feature films by the age of 25) even more remarkable and worthy of admiration.

It doesn't really make them more remarkable. It just means that he learned on the job, so of course he didn't need a film school. His greatest talent is really the dialogue anyway.

He comes from a fairly wealthy family in the entertainment industry. Not to step on his successes, but that's kind of why he was so capable of making films at a young age.

not really he was an actor when he was younger that's how he got the money for his first movie I killed my mother so he put all of HIS money on the movie ;)

Khaserio Arsa He explained in a French interview that he and his mother had enough to live thanks to his mother's salary and his father's alimony. They lived well, without being wealthy. Did you watched Mommy ? He also explained that the district that you can see in the movie is next to the one that he grew up in. Just take a look and then tell me if those people seem rich.
