We're planting trees to extend the native woodland and add colour to the landscape. Plus, we're back in the vegetable garden and planting peas, broccoli and cauliflower. Lovely to see you all. Thanks for watching. Meraid and Dan

Everyone seems to always worry about weeds from hay. I have horses so use older hay in the garden and for mulch. Never had a problem with it. If you do see a few weeds or grass, just turn it over and it will continue to rot down. Leave it out in the weather until you use it and it will turn into the most beautiful mulch filled with fungi. Love the music on your videos. I am in NZ and straw is very expensive here too, especially if you have a big garden.

Most people don't know plants will grow outside in the winter unless it gets to -20°C, zero F. I love the colours in autumn, prefer to plant something closer to the house, just one or two, to see in the morning east sun. You're both doing well with taking on this land and making it productive again.

One of my favorite trees is Ginkgo biloba 'Autumn Gold. I live in the Sierra Foohills of Northern California. Great idea to plant where the wild hogs made holes for you! Gotta love that. Autum is my fav time of year. I have a ginormous Liquid Amber and my yard is carpeted with the falling leaves. I love your expression of “tapestry” with all the colors in the landscape, soooo true! ❤

Loverlie tree planting time! 🤗 Ash tree = Freixo in Portuguese, makes for great firewood. Freixial = Ashgrove 😊(correct me if I'm wrong)

I believe you’re right. I use the Latin names because they are the simplest way to identify a plant in any language. Latin is the universal standard.

Hello there, we're watching your videos and we love them. We have the same hobby: gardening in all the varieties. Because we're in the very north of Portugal it's very very wet but it means also....the spring is coming!! (Keep it positive.) Greetzzz from Hans (NL) and Irena (CZ), Paredes de Coura.

Fab you're planting trees, I've just discovered the tree that's dropped incredible orange fan shaped leaves in a park in Cardiff South Wales is a ginkgo, do you have any on your land?
@NearbyVeggies7 ай бұрын
We don’t, yet. 👍

Gingko trees are wonderful. The leaves are very beneficial for our brain. If they grow in the area, they also help clean the air (not that it is needed in Portugal). It’s great that they are growing in South Wales. Cheers.

Love you guys, but some of what you are doing is scary! You have done the research, yes? You seem to be planting some of the 'bare root' things too deep. You don't want to set the trunk below soil.... And do you need a first good soak, or are your rains going to be enough, and soon. The tops will be dormant, but the roots need to be tended and start growing some. Which ones will be ok in your heat without shade or nurse trees? Especially the European and American ones. They may need protection for at least a few years. Wishing your project well, nonetheless!!
