The open top of the Daggers makes them really easy to clean mud out of them. That was the reason for not enclosing the outer edge of the top. Not only is it easier to clean out, but it is much more difficult to freeze the catch wire/bail wire (whatever you call it) tight. If you have mud under the top lip, when you set the trap the wire squishes into it. If it freezes, that frozen mud can prevent the trap from firing. They were made in the U. S. A., but the proprietor passed away and I don’t know if anyone picked it up.

Great video! I'm just getting in to trapping and I was on the fence on the push/pull DP traps. There are many Coons, Possums, Skunks, Armadillos, Foxes, and Coyotes running rampant on my place.I just bought a new Duke 550 Pro and a Duke DP Trap to try my luck with. I was just now looking at the Push/Pull Ztrap on a website and wanted to see some videos of it in action and results trappers had with it. Your video sealed the deal for me. Thanks.

I done a lot of research and choose z-traps for my first dog proofs 5 years ago and haven’t even tried any others . The z’s have never failed me

They are my top DP trap now. Super easy to use and a really simple but effective design. I love the rounded portion of the trigger, can't believe no one else has used that

same here I have only used the Z trap

Just an FYI CT law is pull only DP's. I would use a push- pull if I could though. Let me sort out what I want to keep and let go. Great video. Trap on.

I have a couple Z traps I really like. Ive had really good luck with my Bridger T-3. I have a couple dozen Dukes as well. I'm going to modify a few of them to the Push Pull triggers. Good information thanks!
@coyotetrappingschool15756 жыл бұрын
You bet, I was pretty impressed with the light pull the Bridgers required, but I didn't field test them much because pretty quickly I switched to all push/pulls

You should have tried the "Alcatraz" Dog Proof Coon Trap. It's close enough to perfect for me.

Great video as always!! Did u get the dukes working better? I am looking at putting new push pull in mine. I run 3 dz of dukes. I just got 6 new z traps to try out.

I'd recommend converting your dukes to push pull. I'm using converted dukes and z traps and liking both.

Sadly in my home state we can only use pull only triggers.

I am new to trapping, do you paint your DP's with a bright paint like white or what are your thoughts? Many people seem to be doing this while others say they don't.
@heathalford47218 ай бұрын
Some brands you buy already white or orange maybe other bright colors.

Ztraps and the Daggers are the best, and if I purchase anymore it will be the Daggers. About your cleaned out Dps, the field nice do a lot of that.

coyoteMark Z-Trap is a fine trap. I prefer a different one, but ain't nothing wrong with Z-Traps. 😉

Thanks, I figured I should try to give an unbiased test before I weighed in with my opinion, that was the best way I could come up with, I think it worked well. That rounded portion of the Z trap trigger was a big seller to me just looking at it. There are several different princes in nigeria, I might can get you hooked up too ;)

Kris have you watched mark crooks video how he modified his bridger with the stock trigger and dog? And as always this is another awesome video
@coyotetrappingschool15756 жыл бұрын
I have watched that video, he still replaced the trigger didn't he? I like modifying the existing dog because that was the part when I was changing triggers that didn't always line up just right. I think keeping the existing dog would help the trap fire better. Thanks!
@butterbean056 жыл бұрын
Coyote Trapping School he kept the original trigger, he took it out and put a 90 degree turn in it then cut a notch in the original dog and put a slight bend in it. Just as soon as i get 5 free minutes im gone do it a couple of my dukes and put a cam on the set and do some comparisons
