{Exterior} Sounds of an Enviro 400 MMC SmartHybrid ft. Forced "Kickdown" | Revving up to 2600RPM+

Seems you lot enjoyed the last video showcasing what a Voith Enviro 400 MMC can do when driven in a certain style! This time round I've decided to record what it's like from the back where you can take in a little bit more of what these buses sound like.
The Voith Gearbox is evidently louder outside on the rear, with it's distinct, low pitch whining on idle/tickover and screaming once it's revving all the way up... just like any DIWA.6. You will also hear that Cummins engine quite clearly, raw sound especially in the higher RPMs during "Kickdown". Alongside that I have to admit these retarders on the newer Voith gearboxes sound amazing past all the bodywork dampening the sound! Other points in the video where the vehicle is left to decelerate without the use of the brake will allow you to hear the axles quite nicely as well...
And to add to that, we all know that the exhaust used on ADL's Hybrid & Euro 6 Diesels between 2014 & 2015 were pretty loud on full boost. Well... yeah it's pretty much the same here as you'll notice. That loud "whoosh" sound isn't wind noise, it's actually from the exhaust! So despite the changes they'd made from 2015 onwards I presume once these newer ADL Euro 6s 'actually" use all of their power accelerating just like e.g. my video on Arriva's T313, you can still hear that jet-like whoosh quite clearly!

I love seeing what Smart Hybrids can do. Admittedly I always hate on them because my local ones on the 270 are stuck with 20mph smaller roads and ISA and are horrifically sluggish so it’s nice to appreciate a good driver on one of these!!

This is a great video, now this is a video we need more of, where we can hear everything clearly. Respect to you for doing this. Nobody in the bus community has done anything like this before. E40D Euro 6 Voith does sound great, they really resemble trident, just slightly different emissions and no kickdown, not that deep. Engine doesn't always need high revs to sound great and this video proves that. Everything working together to make the ting sound great here, the turbo, exhaust air flow, engine vibrating, gears rubbing against each other (thats what causes the whine from gearbox), gearbox retarder and the engine compressor that turns on at times, (u can hear it sometimes from inside but its usually very quiet)

Thank you man! Yeah the Cummins ISB & ISC aren’t complete world opposites, after all they’re both 6-Cylinder engines manufactured by the same company. And yeah despite being known to be crap they do still sound good!

Frozzles, your such a goat man. We’re being blessed not with one but two videos of the same bus even with exterior sounds this time. I wish all Enviro 400 MMC’s are driven like this, they have a lot of power and I can tell they can tackle anything with ease. You can tell the driver loves giving it a good kick man, I honestly wish to see more enviro 400 mmc’s getting pushed to the limits like this. Great Video!🙏🏾
