Wow my grandfather built RC aircraft long before drones were ever a thing. He passed away in 2012 we donated his large assortment of planes and materials to PSU for the students to use. Makes me wish I had at least one of his planes. Hope all is well

This is one plane! Beautiful! Top sound of B4 ! And nice idea with the little chocks on the wheels
@RTD1947 Жыл бұрын
The chocks are 3D printed thanks to my wife and they have rubber on the bottom so they won't slide...they are not a total hold answer, BUT they do take about 75% of the load off the guy holding the tail....thanks for your comment.

Special thanks to CALLIE of Callie Graphics for the OUTSTANDING job done on the graphics. And, to Junior Lopez for his incredible talents in bringing “ The Blackbird “ to Life!! More to come as the cockpit takes shape in…2024. And, to my Daughter Jocelyn for the great Camera Work!!

High, nice video, I have the same aircraft, can you tell me where you set the "CG" please. Thank you
@RTD1947 Жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for the reply. It’s set at 7.5” from the leading edge at the fuselage. Since there is nothing available from CARF on exactly where to start, I figured close to 27% might be a good place to start from. How did yours fly? Especially landing, does it drop the left wing?

@@RTD1947 Mine is set at 8" from leading edge at fuselage. Mine floats like a butterfly at slow speed. No indications of stalling a wing tip at all. Trying to get information from CARF is like squeezing blood out of a rock, lol, glad you answered me. I originally got some info from a guy in Canada who has the same plane but has his powered with a DLE 222 which is much heavier than our DA 200L engines. I originally moved all three batteries way back under the Pilot position which made the plane very tail heavy but I landed it ok. I then moved my CG to where I told you and it was great.

@@hankdurrer5650 I suspected that I might be nose heavy from the start and You confirmed that...thanks so much...I will add a little tail weight and see how it flys.. All my radio gear is in the turtle deck just behind the pilots head...I did notice once during a deadstick...mine floated all the way to the ground also...HUM!!!! What engine are you running...and prop... mine is the Mejzlik 29x12evo ... and thanks for the nice reply...need a thick skin with some reply's.. just reread...you have the 200 also...are you running KS 95s and headers?

@@RTD1947 I am flying mine with a DA 200L, on KS 95s on MTW headers, 90mm drop, Mejzlik 29X12 Evo three blade prop, my central box is located just behind the wind tube with the ignition and two flight batteries located next to the elevator and rudder servo packs. Had to build battery trays there to mount them. So from the maiden flight to now I moved all three batteries forward approximately 16 inches. Extremely nose heavy aircraft have a tendency to bounce heavily and tip stall on a very clean wing at slow speeds. I found out the hard way many years ago. Like you I've been in the hobby for 57 years. Hope the new set up will help you.
