Yes a py file can have a "virus", so a keylogger, a trojan or other. But a .py file you can see the source code, you just need to have very little knowledge, if you see something weird in the code, do not open it.

I wrote a custom code to unpack an exe file didn't work. I used jetbrain's dotpeek to unpack an exe file, couldn't do it. Tried your solution, failed twice, changed python from 3.9 to 3.8, tried again didn't work. Set environment path then tried again and voilà it worked. Damn it worked. I'm trying to come up in work and this unpacked exe can make my life a lot easier (The coder had left the organization and I had no way to look into the source code). I can't thank you enough but one day I will join your monthly paid sub (as soon as I can afford it). For now I subbed, liked and commented. Great work bro man

Hey, I'm so happy when people tell me that it worked for them. To explain simply, the script uses two modules: decompile3 and Pyinstaller extractor. First, it uses pyinstaller extractor: It extracts several files that compose the exe. Among these files there is one that contains the basic source code. Decompile3 is used to convert this file into .py, to do this it changes the first line of hexadecimal of this file. I build it using other codes, open main.py, ou will see the sources of the codes that helped me
