I just tested this with firmware 1.93 as well as firmware 4.89 the process was easy and the bios files extracted from firmware 1.93 worked with PCSX2 1.6.0 and duckstation however keep in mind that you need to use the fast boot option in both emulators or you get a blackscreen.

@@lacabanademunchie7549 The games I tested were MK Trilogy for PS1 and WWE 2011 for PS2 both games booted just fine and there were no glitches, these bios files work as good as bios files extracted from real hardware and they're free.

Nop, just that you would need fast boot enabled (which is enabled by default), so technically PS1 and PS2 dumped bios aren't needed anymore

Yes, theres linux instructions in a readme in the 'linux' folder I was just focussed on windows with the video tutorial, same exact premise, install rpcs3, run script, your bios are there

Out of curiosity, will the different region on the bios somehow affect the gameplay? I noticed that the PS2 bios is from Japan 🤔

So, all bios detived from official latest sony distributions of 4.89 will be japanese region, and no noticeable difference between the region you obtain this in due to it all being the same source

Hey dude, I've managed to extract the bios and they look fine but they aren't recognised by the emulators. I'm using Aethersx2 on android. Any thoughts would be really appreciated!

If you are using AetherSX2, make sure you use the second version of the Script, and that you use the "-patched" version of the bios. The developer of Aether (arbitrarily) blocked certain bios after we released this tool. Alternatively, use NetherSX2, which removes the arbitrary bios check on these bios.

The region of the extracted bios may show up as japanese, but it's compatible with NTSC and PAL region games. If you notice a game isnt able to load with your bios, make sure you have the latest release of tools and try again, feel free to ask for more help if needed

That is an example of placing our bios in the correct location, once you have your ps3 output bios, you can use them as normal bios in any emu you want.

Why does the program bring up windows command prompt? Isn't that suspicious? Now that my ps2 seems to be dying I am starting my emulation journey and have a few questions.

a basic terminal window opening up with batch files is normal, terminals may seem a bit intimidating or confusing but you'll find this is standard in emulation for example, many emulators themselves run terminals at the same time as display windows (Ryujinx comes to mind) I and thousands of others using this tool can promise you our uploads at internet archive (in the description) are safe to use, feel free to run virus scans aswell if you're still worried.

This utilizes RPCS3 to retrieve bios, so unfortunately it needs to be done on a platform that's released on (not including android yet)

@theish9 There are lots of guides out there that can show you this better than I can explain it, do some searching on how to dump a ps2 bios online That said, it usually requires access to a pc to dump the files. I definetly reccomend searching this up

Yep, and I in no way shape or form condone piracy, I say it every time I need to talk about Emulation. This makes it so you don't need a hacked console itself for the bios, you can still rip iso's off software such as imgburn, or obtain your games through other legal methods
