@zoiemperor3954 Yeah, I agree because my grandmother had a seal coat that I wore. You could go naked under that coat and never get cold!!!!! If you live in those environments, only fur or down.

@@princetumi-b8e Namibia.. it is a surfers paradise.. no people.. lots of seals.. its in africa.. hyenas and wild dogs often go there, and now lions.. yes seals get taken by hyenas and lions.

The Skeleton Coast off the coast of Namibia, southwest Africa. Desert lions used to patrol the beaches decades ago before they were exterminated in the region. They’ve been making a slow and steady comeback ever since..

Wow!!! Because Yah, I remember a documentary, perhaps by Nature.. some organization.. many years ago about the Lions of Namibia and how they were cut off from ancestral beach hunting grounds and had lost living memory but the researchers et al could only watch and hope someday the lions would again find the beach. This is really so wonderful to see because it will help the lions survive and grow and hopefully not poach cattle et al from humans. Great news! I'm all for it.

Don't raise cattle in lion territory. Lions don't know it's cattle. It's just food. Also,if you raise cattle around lions,expect losses. 🤷

Where I live,I have seals and mountain lions but I honestly don't know how often mountain lions are roaming the beaches here looking for food. Coyotes for sure,maybe a black bear....I'm sure mountain lions venture down but they prefer the forest around here.

According to this it does not happen. This appears to be the first time it's been seen in decades.

@@mishie618actually the lions of Skeleton Coast were wiped out in 1970-1980s by humans. Seal hunting were their speciality. It’s nice to see the lions returning and reclaiming the seal hunting.

So WONDERFUL to see these beautiful cats regain this tradition after cattlemen nearly wiped out their prides in the late 1980s.

There are no cattlemen in that region, they were killed off by poaching and trophy hunting by Europeans.

Lions are losing their habitat and their food. This can't be good, especially for the seals. They have a new predator they never had to worry about in history of evolution.

⁠@@wickedpawn5437no, it’s great news that the lions are returning to Skeleton Coast and hunting seals again. Lions of Skeleton Coast were wiped out by humans in 1970s-1980s and were locally extinct.

Fewer and fewer natural prey items on land, and maybe some lion populations have picked up on what tends to happen when you go after domesticated livestock -Well if the ocean is nearby there's a third alternative.

That was an amazing clip. I've witnessed just lions being able to adapt to just about any environment they are put in, and thrive !! What makes me sad about humanity is they just don't care. We are infringing on their territory.. Don't get me wrong , THEY SIMPLY DON'T KNOW WHERE THEIR LINES A BOUNDARY ENDS AND HUMANITIES BEGIN!!!😢

Eh, humanity is part of nature as well. Lions will adapt or can disappear. Nearly every species has gone extinct that has existed. Part of the earths cycle.

This is human's abnormal behavior of releasing lions in the shore, not the lions extra ordinary behavior. The poor seal probably suffered too much of an animal not knowing how to kill it.

Wow amazing, normally brown hyenas hunt the seals. Now, these lions traveled a great distance considering the prey they have in the desert alone. Alot of trouble to go through, but in this case it paid off

It's a sea lion actually. You could tell by the way it moved on land and you could see the ears around 1:45.

@@tylergilson4749 I like on Long Island New York if you dropped an adult leopard off in the middle of nowhere on Long Island I bet the Leopard is successful in catching local wildlife. I can't say the same for an adult male lion.

Kind of a tonal confusion in the kill scene. This seal is being slowly mangled by clueless lions, and there's beautiful, uplifting music in the background. Guess it was a good day for the lions, though.

Those lions will probably get pretty big eating seals all the time. That's a lot of blubber, not like the lean animals lions normally eat. It would be interesting to study them for a long time and see the effects of eating a fatter diet than most lions.

@ no problem 👍 it’s amazing how adaptable these animals are to the point where they regularly interact with animals that you’d never expect them to, like brown hyenas which are also found on the skeleton coast and coexist and hunt fur seals, leopard seals also swim from Antarctica all the way to Australia and sometimes interact with and hunt platypus, some crocodiles live in the Abanda caves of Gabon and eat bats, and camels will regularly swim across miles in open ocean where sharks reside

Now imagine some extinction size asteroid that we can't stop is approaching Earth and some aliens that could do something about it just watch and record our end of time.

Stunning footage! This has to be the easiest prey lions have ever had. And with so much easy protein and fat in their diets there's going to be an explosion in the lion population on the beach soon enough. And then man will get there and destroy the habitat as we always do.

Those are fur seals, so, while not true seals, it is technically correct to call them seals.

​@@fotosapientUr welcome. It's difficult to tell sea lions and fur seals apart, but this spot is pretty famous for its fur seals. Never thought lions hunted them before.
