@jimtitt35717 ай бұрын
@@lewsdirtbikedays The 490's were all single-shock as was the earlier 465. The first had the Monoshock system then later the Monolever but when I raced we had an interim custom-framed system, I guess for two years I had the old monoshock on a 465 taken out to 490 then after that we built our own frames. I actually rode a 125 one year and came 4th which wasn't bad for a 96kg guy who'd never ridden even a 250 before. I've raced it on an outfit as well. I don't remember it being so wet but we didn't notice things like that much I guess, you just blast through, there was nowhere you had to get off and walk through like some events.

That was the first and only time I’ve seen that model of bike out on any trail. 👍

In that early section, it's funny how you can do hundreds of miles of trails, and suddenly the front washes out of nowhere with no warning and nothing challenging in sight. I think it's usually that scenario where a large enough stone lifts the wheel off the ground completely for a split second, so when it drops back down to connect the wheel is either moving too fast for the traction it gets back, or you happen to be turning a fraction at the time which throws off the balance. How do you account for that though?
@lewsdirtbikedays7 ай бұрын
I know, sodds law 😆 it's always the easy mundane stuff that catches you out though most of the time as you're not fully focused and your senses and reactions aren't sharp. In this case, there was no rock or hole, it was just a big off-cambered slate slab in the water, and the front wheel just washed straight out, that why it went down so fast, like hitting a patch of ice. Not alot you can do in those situations to be fair mate. Just gotta suck up and carry on 😉

Hi Terry. But I guess this only comes into its own and really high speed swpaouts, which thankfully I haven't had yet... Or maybe I have and the damper saved it?! Who knows 🤷🤣

Hi mate.. Nice one 👍 I ride to everywhere on the bike, mate, I don't have a van 🤣 I'm the wrong person to ask that question if I'm being honest, this is the first road bike I've ever owned and road riding bores me to tears. I've only ever ridden offroad since I was 14. I mean, the bike handles to roads really well, no buffeting at speed and really nicely balanced in the corners. Doesn't pull your arms out, they're only 72 brake. Coming from a Ktm it'll probably feel like a bit of a downgrade I imagine as there's no fancy gimmicks. No cruise, no quickshifter, no maping, no TCS... But I think thats the beauty of them, you feel connected to the bike itself, not a Computer. For long riding, cruise control would be nice but it's no an option sooo.... 🤷 😆 Offroad is where the T7 comes to life. I think the choice of bike really depends on what you want out it.

Hello there, I'm planning on riding the tet in Wales in about 2 weeks (from the Netherlands, on my Tenere rallye) How do you go about regarding spare tubes? Do you always carry one or two?
@ogasi17987 ай бұрын
i would always carry two in a foreign land - better to be safe than sorry - TET wales has plenty of rock and a lot of it is sharp so adjust tyre pressures accordingly as you are running tubes
@lewsdirtbikedays7 ай бұрын
Jamie, above, has already nailed it, no punn intended. But yeah, 2 spare heavy duty tubes minimum, 1 front and 1 back. A front tube will work in the back in an emergency but I wouldn't recommend it otherwise. And carry the obvious puncture repair kit too, and a small tub of tyre lube. Best of luck on the TET, you'll have a blast! Make sure you research the areas you intend on riding though as some of the TET sections can be pretty gnarly, especially on the big bikes. Where are you starting and ending?
@NitrogenNL7 ай бұрын
@@lewsdirtbikedaysI've seen the Michelin 4mm tubes, heavy duty. Was planning to run those, but got told that they are mainly for desert/low pressure? Ferry to Harwich, then straight to Swindon and taking the tet from there. Leaving from Hull on the 3rd. I'm driving alone, so I'll take it easy. Don't want to drag 500 pounds out of the mud. If conditions are terrible I'll stick to the roads, unless I find someone to ride with. In your video of today the Tenere was more of a submarine. Since I'm camping I'm trying to keep my boats as dry as possible :)

I have a completely dead Michelin tracker on the back and a dead Kenda K760 on the front, not sure what Henry was running but I know he had the same Kenda's as me front and back at one point. Kev and Adam are both running Anlas Capra X's which are basically Michelin anakee wild's. They seem to do quite well on them tyres and Adam really rates them, but they're about £200 odd for a set. I've just gone for a pair of Metzeler MC360's to try, see how they do. I'm just experimenting myself atm see if I can find the unicorn ADV tyre. I'm sure it doesn't exist yet 😂

And with KZbin algorithm, did a bit of basic research recently, but the time and day of posting seems to make a difference for the algorithm and peoples behaviours. It basically says that Monday-Thurs is the worst time to post 😬but then who knows when it comes to slightly more niche subjects, you can't always apply these general things. Overall, comparing some things I've posted recently, I do think it favours specific subject things over vlogs, in terms of how much they recommend the videos into peoples streams (maybe they consider vlogs to be more of a subscriber / already engaged thing?).
