Nuno is killing it but Gary can’t match David Lee Roth. Then again, who can

LOL. Dave hasn't sounded like the records since 1990. And now is not a remote possibitity with the songs downtuned. Gary hits the notes, not Dave.

@ you may not have been alive when DLR ruled the stage. He hit those notes. Gary made a good effort but could not do what Dave did. Not ever.

I'm 65. By '90 Dave's pipes were rode hard, put away wet. Gaey's well over 50 here. Dave fans are as deluded about his voice as any hyper fan I've seen. And Hagar smoked him ever day forever, including Dave's best and Sammy's worst. Fact, not fandom.

The recording production sucks or this might be good.

It's a cellphone video....sorry but they frown upon people bringing professional equipment in so sorry I couldn't get the video up to your production expectations 😅😅

@@CroatianChris Nothing personal my friend. I saw many posts about how the performance was bad which I disagreed with and only wished it was a better audio recording. I had just watched VH with Cherone from 1998 in Sydney Australia doing Ain't Talkin Bout Love - VH had recorded for MTV I believe. VH dead on as always. Eddie was a human rhythm machine. Anyway the contrast was noticeable. 🙂 Thanks for posting this though. I watched and enjoyed it regardless.

@jimgodofbiscuits no offense taken. I love that Sydney video. Gary did a great job. The album wasn't the best but the tour was awesome as they FINALLY did DLR stuff Hagar refused. I typically record one or two songs to post....just to share with people and keep a memory. I prefer not to record the whole show as I like to watch the show with my eyes lol All the best!

@@CroatianChris Thanks! Yeah I'm still a huge VH fan. To give away my age, as a teen a buddy and I took a bus to see Black Sabbath in '78 on their final tour (in the original run) with Ozzy and VH was the opener. I was a country boy, it was my first concert, and had not even heard VH until they came out on stage. It was obvious even to a first show teen they were a monster immediately. Still one of my top shows ever :

I liked him as a frontman over Sammy. The 1998 video of VH for this song in Sydney Australia is really good imho. Gary does a fun little thing in the crowd. VH dead on as always...it's great.

@@jimgodofbiscuits The term 'front man' is what DLR fans use to say he's better than Sammy. That has nothing to do with the voice. I want to hear the guy with the best voice - any and every time.

@@donnashepherd1577 I saw Sammy first open for Boston in '78, a few months after the unforgettable Sabbath show with VH, and saw him several times as an opener during his post-Montrose solo career. I guess I feel like his voice is very specific and more suited to a good warm up act. 🤷‍♂️ I think Gary's voice and stage presence fit a more mature Van Halen in the later 90s.

Boring, dull and dated when they started. Hyped to the max but could not write a decent song. More than Words, a song played at the funeral of an unloveable stepmother. Get the Funk Out, over produce ego nonsense.
