I'm watching your contents, and i really like them, but there is one thing i don't understand: The pine needles fonctions as a weed barrier and it's good for the soil, when you have some plants that love acid soil, as your hostas by example. The snugs and snails don't like pine neddle either. So why do you ged rid of it and pay for new mulch? I hope you will not be offended by my words. And sorry for my english, i'm learning (french gardener)

Hello Fabienne, i truly appreciate your thoughtful and honest opinion and I have definitely been thinking of switching back to pine straw. In NY we don’t usually apply pine straw but in my case at least for half of my yard it makes the most sense so thank you. In 2020 I used it for the 1st time and I tried to put it everywhere and I didn’t like it but I think I need a combination. Pine straw is used more often in the southern states in the US. I’m so happy you enjoy watching. Have a blessed week. 😊

@@daphnesoutdoorliving6146 I'm in the South and I loved using pine straw. My need to switch to wood mulch was due to my neighbors free roaming chickens. They would destroy my flowerbeds looking for worms. I miss my pinestraw. It's used heavily down here (Southwest GA).

What a big job , but satisfying too. We in Austria Europe, lots of rain , then very hot weather. We have given up on the perfect lawn, trying to do more sustainable gardening by planting more pollinater friendly plants, water features etc. Your garden looks lovely and well kept. Not so easy these days with changing weather conditions. Thank you for sharing, have a nice day.😊🌻🌼🌸🌺

Hello Imelda, thank you. Yes the changing conditions make it so hard. I think that it is wonderful to adjust over to more plantings, the upkeep is much more satisfying, at least to me. 😊 we are having a heat wave here. 🔥have a blessed week.

Hey Daphne, wow that was a lot of rain. For the past week it felt like Spring made a comeback because the weather was so cool and gloomy. But they said it's going to get warmer by the weekend. Great video as always mama.

In the south they use pine needles as mulch. You may want to use them in one area of your garden for a different look and texture

Hello Patti, welcome! I don’t think we have chatted before. Thank you and I plan on trying pine straw again on the beds below the pines. One time before I tried it in too many areas. Thanks for the suggestion. Do you live in the south?

Those pine needles have really taken over your backyard 😮. I know it would probably cost a ton of money to cut them down. I’ve got two big tree in my backyard too and I’m always blowing leaves 🍁 too. We single women gotta do what we have too. Women rock!!!!❤

Hello Donna, I think next year I’m going to use pine straw under the pine trees. So I can stop fighting against the needle casting. 😂🤣 yes, 👊🏾

Put down some edging to separate the grass from the mulching and plant beds ❤
@daphnesoutdoorliving6146 Жыл бұрын
I actually removed the edging from the large beds the other year. I can manage the live edge much better than with edging. Have a blessed week!
