It is so freaky, but when I decluttered my shelves at the beginning of January, I also ended up with exactly 123 books on my physical TBR. I catalogued them and my new 2024 reading goal is that at least one third of books I am about to read this year must come from this physical TBR. This sounds easy at the beginning of the year, but by Spring I can get distracted by new discoveries and releases.

Oh my heart I LOVED Ordinary Monsters lol!! Thank you for not bashing my beloved historical fiction.. I think book shelves are VERY personal and should make you happy and excited when you look at them!!

I would never bash historical fiction! I feel like I will probably come back to it 😊. But I am planning on reading the new Kristin Hannah - I’m hoping it is a BOTM, other wise I have a hold in at the library!!

The biggest unhaul I did was years ago during a move when I realized I could get many books from the library. I checked to make sure I could get the book from the library and if I could get it at the library, I unhauled it. Now if I could figure out how to unhaul my digital books....LOL.

You should read In the Time of The Butterflies! I don't think it'll be a super favorite but it sticks with you. I had to read it in college and still remember being so shocked and horrified by it.

I don’t think you need to keep Before We Were Yours for a re-read, but I definitely recommend reading it once! It’s emotional but also important to know what has been done in history regarding adoption. (And I say this as a mom through adoption!)

When you're finished over there, can you come do the same at my house? ;) Yay, someone else who puts books horizontally! I've always disliked having to tilt my head to read spine titles. It's so unnatural. Plus they only ever go one way. Makes me twitchy. It seems books are little more accessible when they're horizontal. (Um... as long as the stack is small.) My problem is trying to pack my shelves too tightly. Whatever way you put them, it becomes hard to take them out. Sigh. I know I am due for a cleanout/rearrange. But I haven't had the mental energy for it yet!

Haha, yeah it does take a lot of energy to reorganize it - but I'm so happy with it! Yes, I've always liked books stacked both ways I think it makes it more visually interesting :)

I love that you have one bookcase of ‘keepers’ and one of TBR! I do that too but the bottom shelves are photo albums and (ancient) kids books from when I was little - I just can’t part with them, too many sweet memories. It helps me keep my TBR under control 😆😆

If you haven't read "The Kite Runner" I would highly recommend that. Just a heads up that it is emotionally brutal.

I understand you aren’t the biggest romcom fan and so I am afraid you won’t read the utterly wonderful Yours Truly bc IHOS with make you not want to read another romcom. 😆😆😆….but seriously
