It's very simple.... I carry my maxpedition falcon 2.... FULL TACTICAL ,FULL MOLLE etc.etc.etc... BUILD QUALITY SECOND TO NONE .... I cover it with a generic, sports brand rain cover ...result = INSTANT GREY MAN ... A woodland camo rain cover can be included if required..... It cannot get any simpler than this ...

I bought this pack last Feb, with an amazing online offer of roughly 60 bucks, I've been using it twice a week since then and I'm really happy with it. The 2 things people typically criticize about it are the difficult access to main compartment and that open sleeve in between that can be used for shoes, hat, whatever you want to put there. I acknowledge all those typical comments but I personally like the way those 2 things work. The main compartment small opening when backpack is buckled up helps me to reach some items without opening it too much (my headsets, mouse when using it for my office). The big sleeve I use it for throwing things that I know I'll need later when in the car, at the office and those secure environments where you don't need to hide or secure your stuff (such as my car keys, my hat, a pair of globes, even my mobile if entering into a doctor's office, etc). Thanks for the video, straight to the point and nicely recorded. Regards, Nacho.

I have one of these as a Get Home Bag. The design is so low-key that it does not look out of place anywhere, blending in even on a college campus with the plethora of North Face bags. You did nail the worst part: those compression straps make it a PITA to open the main compartment to get anything out, which is a shame because it is otherwise a well designed compartment that hold a lot of stuff!
@darkstepwarrior88Ай бұрын
love the detailed explenation about opening of the maincompartment. In terms of size i am glad 5.11 also have the covert 24 backpack that looks the same and has a 41liter inside.

Bought this pack on sale for $80. 511 is always doing sales so I wouldn’t pay full price for it. As far as using it, it works really well for me. Have no issue with the fit and find it really comfortable (I’m 5’11” 175lb). Took it on a 14 mile day hike in glacier National park and never had fatigue from carrying it and was more than capable of carrying the supplies I needed. I also use it frequently for everyday life. My only complaint with the pack is that I wish the ccw pouch had some rigidity on the hook and loop to support heavier firearms but I have rarely carried in the pack so not a deal breaker

I had the 1.0 and bought the 2.0 because I liked it so much. I was really disappointed by this bag and it's layout not being able to roll the cover of the molle field down like in the og. I love 5.11 but they missed the mark on this one at least for me

Good review. So what is better than this pack for you especially for a carry on with a lap top compartment?

I have a couple of the original Covrt 18 packs, and this is more like a covrt 18 Lite than a 2.0. Many features of the original were removed but none were added.

I like the look of it, might get one, I love 5.11 stuff, high quality, bomb proof, my Rush 24, and PUSH Pack, I've had so much use out of and still use them a lot, this has a lot less tactical look though and might be better for certain environments.

I have the Covert 18, 1.0. It's good but just never really met my needs for most of my use which is carry-on plane travel. Recently purchased the Rush 24, 2.0. All the webbing doesn't really bother me as far as "getting noticed" This style of pack is pretty common these days. I really like the admin pockets and layout much better than the Covert 18. More comfortable too.
@happyamerican3235 Жыл бұрын
The compression straps have to be high to keep stuff in the shove it compartment. I wish the shove it compartment had its own center strap because when you lay the pack open that compartment dumps out. Maybe the 3.0 will have a closure option. I have an osprey Daylite plus and this pack and like them both. Both have the shove it pocket and it’s convenient for gloves or a hat but don’t put anything in there you wouldn’t want to lose.

I like the pack and all the pockets and ability to hold a larger water bottle. I ended up buying The Ridge i liked it was waterproof, had a RFID pocket for my credit cards and a secret pocket to hide a tracker …in case someone takes it. But this looks like a bag I would try for sure. I like 511 they make good gear.

I’ve had an older Ridge model backpack for years now. It’s a blue one, don’t remember the model name but it’s super lightweight. They did a good job with their packs.

So, I recently got this bag. Love it but I have two questions as I am fairly new to these types of packs: The front pocket with the molle came with a black hook and loop thing, what’s the intended use for it? And secondly, could you roll the front pocket so that the molle hanging out? Thanks in advance and love the channel 😅

G'day Aaron, in general I do like 5.11 products, I've had the Rush 12, (easily my fav design, I went for OD green for on the trail, but even in black/grey, screams TAC, lol). but more to the point, the Covert 18 "1.0", for some years now, no real issues and great value IMO, though the Covert can give you the feeling of pulling away from your shoulders, especially if not adjusted perfectly and loaded properly, (I seem to remember you pointing that out on your review of it), and I have added a waist belt since, which does help also. With the 2.0, I'm not really sure what to make of it, there doesn't appear to be any significant benefit, detestably a step back, over the 1.0 or their other, "grey man" friendly models. Cheers Duke.

The way the compression straps limit the pending on the bag is the same reason I love/hate my havoc30 which I’ve had for over 5 years and use daily. Love the havoc double tap colour, wish the bag had more internal organisation and a squarer top to fit more in, and wider body.

I have a couple Questions. #1 will it fit a folded CZ scorpion? And if so can you still use a hydration bladder? #2 Do you have any recommendations for a bigger guy (6'1" 250lbs) that would work great to carry a Scorpion while also performing well as a Get home bag? Looking for quality but also very inconspicuous. Trying to stay around 35L size.

To be frank - they made the Covrt18 - and it was exactly as it should be. Then someone in development had a stroke and decided to discontinue Covrt18 and make a bad "new version 2.0".

Bought this pack in January to use it as edc to store my work items and commute to work, hence it could be considered as light use. The design is excellent but I am very disappointed with the build quality, especially for its price. I ended up buying a different bag that is more durable and costs just a bit more.

Hey, I know I’ve already asked you about this fixed blade Buck 662 Alpha Scout Fixed Blade Knife Richlite (2.8" Satin) 0662BRS but do you think it’s the best fix blade for every day Carrie or would you recommend a different one that is this size and around this price?
@gideonstactical Жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say it’s the best… it’s a good little knife. It really comes down to what you’re looking to carry. do you like leather? Or kydex? is it more of a utility knife or you doing more woods craft with it? There’s lots of variables.

@@gideonstactical all I would be using it for is every day carry i don’t go in the Woods really at all but if I did, I would carry my fixed blade with me i’ve never had a fixed blade knife but I want to start caring one and have that as my only knife so I don’t really know what’s better leather or Kydex
