500cc 2 strokes are making a come back and we're not too sure why. Maybe its the excitement in building a custom bike that isn't available to the public or maybe 500cc riders like the idea of riding on something the average joe can't handle. Either way, we're not complaining. The KX Guru Racing crew built this 3rd generation big bore 2 stroke they called KTX500e. The frame was used out of a 2016 KTM 250SXF and cut out the cradle of it so the 500cc engine could be shoe-horned in. Sit back and enjoy this extremely unique video featuring a one of a kind build from KX Guru Racing. Josh Mosiman shares his thoughts on what it was like to ride a bike with this much horsepower.

@@baby-sharkgto4902 Actually Ryan is onto it mate. 2 stroke exhausts are all about getting the sound wave travelling efficiently to 'suck' the gasses out. It sounds ridiculous I know, but the science behind it is unquestionable.

Wow, Thats amazing since the average seventeen year old is scared of a 80 2 stroke! I had a KX250 when I hit ten and it scared the crap out of me! Took three kids to start it too, 1 to push and two on the seat to jump up and down to get the wheel to catch! Stories we all can tell!

Cool build. We built some 3 bikes we had . Low ho bike was 72. High was 105 all rear wheel hp. I believe we still hold the land speed records. Stock class that bike 69.5 at rear wheel.

Always wondered for a track bike why the starter isn't removable when the bike is stated. Kick for stall start if needed but removable (remote) starter for pit starts. Cars have done this for ages

Why would 500cc two-stroke make a come back? Because they are the best. Back in the late 80s I bought an 88 CR500RJ. One of my mates had the 89 RK. Any of the CR500 from 89 onwards is a great bike. I'll add to that, KX500 for 88 onwards as will as the KTM500 and 540 two strokes. Great bikes.

Dump the electric start and you have a beast that’s very nice off the ground. That 12 extra pounds on the one side will make for a weird feeling in the air. 2 strokes are known for being very light weight. Sick build right here for sure.

crnkin2 A properly tuned BRC Kit should make about 70hp.... You probably refer to Gnagsaar’s BRC that only made 50 hp on the dyno? I believe he had problems with the carburetor. But he is redoing the whole project at the moment, with the goal of 70+ hp and sub 100kg bike weight (wet).

There's not really much else can be done mate, fuel injection is probably the only major advancement they would have included if they were still racing 2t's. Once one manufacturer went with the 4t motocrosser (Yamaha), they all had to, because losing races is bad for business
