Amazing transformation in such a short time! Following up the question "does this spark joy?" with "is this something I want to bring into my future" is the missing piece from Marie Kondo's advice, I think. That really puts the emphasis on the present and the future, which is the way it ought to be. Great job, thank for the inspiration!!
@gorefieldluvr69214 жыл бұрын
I think Marie kondo doesnt say the future thing because many hoarders hoard things they think will be useable or neseccairy in the future, but the future thinking is very good for those of us who are just messy and have a lot of stuff!!
@claudiaw92464 жыл бұрын
@@gorefieldluvr6921 Yeah, that could be it. Some of the things I own spark joy, but not to the extent that I want to bring them with me into the future. Spending so much time at home this past year has really made me aware of how much I own I neither use or appreciate. I'm also moving in a few months, so that's really lighting a fire under me to really think about each item and whether it's worth taking into the new space. The other question I ask myself is whether it's something I'd buy if I didn't already own it; if the answer is no, then out it goes. At this point, I probably own less than half as much stuff as I did a few years ago, but it still feels like too much!

Absolutely same here. We have lived in this house for going on 13 yrs have 3 kids. One went off to college but still have 2 younger ones home. I have started this process so many times. I've done plenty of decluttering over the past couple of years and am still finding more things to declutter (items that no longer spark joy or are needed anymore). 18:11 - 19.02 I love what you said about is this something I want to bring into my future and yes it's sparks joy but they're a part of an old chapter. I've made a note of what you said as this is something to keep in mind. 😊

Really nice! While watching I had an idea that you could put your desk in front of the window of the small room to have sunlight and more open space around you while doing desk stuff. My other idea was that you could move your bed to your small room and put a sofa at the back wall where your bed was standing. On the right side of the sofa ypu could you place a small table and a plant and maybe a basket. In front of the window you could put your desk and next to your door your shelf with the books and stuff. I'm not sure if it would fit but that was what came out when I was moving around your furniture in my mind :D

Life is so good after storing my parents in the garden shed ! 😂 I've been a minimalist for just over 20 years. I wouldn't be without my kindle tho. The only real books i have is my Bible and prayer book. Everything i own fits in my backpack. I use a sleeping bag and liner for sleep and sitting. The best thing is if i want to move i up and go as and when i want. I'm not tied to any one location. I think you did an awesome job and you should be proud of yourself. Well done young lady 👍

That sounds absolutely amazing! Books would definitely be hard for me to let go of completely - I’ve always been a massive bookworm and they bring me so much joy 💛 I love the idea of living fully out of a backpack though and not needing more than that - that is my ultimate goal for a chapter of my life that I will be writing sometime in the future 🙏🏼👏🏼

Thank you so much for posting this video- I just moved into an apartment a few months ago with my mom after some pretty big life changes which really affected my mental health... sifting through all the memories of my childhood and focusing on my future has been messy, stressful, and extremely exhausting (especially with the insanity of 2020, where so much is uncertain). I’m inspired to declutter again, since even though I parted ways with a fair amount of my clothes before moving out of my childhood home, I know there’s much more to be looked through. You’ve inspired me to focus inwardly on the things which spark joy in my life versus the things I no longer need or benefit from. I want to hold onto my optimism and hope, and you’ve helped me gain the confidence to let go of negativity. (You’ve also inspired me to purchase a tapestry for my new bedroom! 🥰) Thanks again!
@themilliethuesen_4 жыл бұрын
Amazing, Emma. Thank you so much for this lovely comment 💛 it can be hard to go through this process, but focusing inwards will definitely help you detach from a lot of the items in your life that no longer spark joy or are necessary to where you want to go in life ✨ wishing you the best!

Start small, go category by category and don’t worry about any of the categories you’re not currently going through because that can be a bit overwhelming 🤍 I also really recommend watching the Netflix show Tidying up with Marie Kondo if you want to see full-house declutters. Hey. I’m saying this with love in my heart only, but please reconsider if it’s constructive or necessary to leave comments like that on other people’s videos in the future - even when it’s coming from a place of love and concern, it never ever feels good to receive a comment like that. You essentially just told me that I have a flaw that needs fixing, and it’s not your job to be the judge of that. Another person’s skin, body and health is never your business. Just like you wouldn’t leave a comment stating that someone is overweight, commenting on another person’s skin without any idea of what their life + lifestyle looks like is kind of ignorant. And also, I’ve been vegan for over 5 years, so if you’re concerned about my dairy consumption: no need. Sending you good vibes.
