EXTREME FRONT YARD MAKEOVER // Removing an Overgrown Landscape & Creating a Low Maintenance Garden

I just completed a front garden renovation for under $650. Our front landscape was overgrown and smothered in weeds, invasive trees, and plants positioned in the wrong locations. I removed the entire front garden and started a new low maintenance garden design from scratch. I planted 10 incrediball hydrangeas and gave the area a thick layer of mulch. I love this video!!!! 😍😍 Everything looks fantastic! This video starts out and ends sooooo funny😂😂 (especially "someone bought... that someone was me" and the "cost of labor")!!! It is also very inspirational because that's the perimeter of my back yard between the huge pines and the gully by a fence, the overgrown garden that came with my house, my crazy forsythias, under the magnolia that is forever deciding to grow as much down as up after pruning, and the flower beds I started but failed no-dig cardboard and mulch 101 (I'm trying that technique again using what I observed in your yew planting video). I get excessive about many things, but in the garden mostly my 40 heirloom peonies. Someone had uploaded a 1968 Brand Nursery catalogue online and I thought it would be cool to have ALL the double varieties listed since 1968 is my birth year and I had recently decided peonies were much more interesting now I had learned the buds can keep in the refrigerator. Oh the rabbit holes we go down... Anyway, I retire soon and plan to finally tame all of those areas... but maybe not as quickly as you... 😂😂❤❤

What a difference! I have been removing plants from in front of my home this summer but wasn't sure which direction to go. I was eyeing the Incrediball Hydrangeas but I am still not sure they will do well in the space. It only gets about 3 hours of sun between 11 and 2 most of the summer. I guess I can give it a shot and see how it turns out. Now to find good size plants to fill in with and see. You never know until you try! Your refreshed front is gorgeous, great job!

Haha! Love this! What you say about hydrangeas can, to a degree, be said here on the Alabama “Mobile Bay” coast. (i.e. zone 9, maybe 9 1/2, but very wet. Hot. Impossibly humid. Semi-tropical.) But what you are counting on from hydrangeas I am counting on from planting more azaleas--with a healthy dose of shade-loving hydrangeas where possible🥰

I liked the 'before' alot more to be honest =/ Propably because it was more interesting with all the variety. Now it's just another Hydrangea monoculture. But hey, if that's what you like, you do you ;)
