This week we have been out and about as the weather turned hot for a change. We visited a church on a mountain, a lake in a forest and chased some chickens around a village and we didn't spend a penny. It's a very frugal semi retirement but luckily there are lots of free things to do.

Re your veg boxes. I have some similar ones which I got from the garden centre last year when all the spring bulbs were on sale I think the bulbs arrived in them but they were happy to give me 4 for storage. Might be worth looking there around September or October when the bulbs are on sale.

Here in the US we have corn and peppers in a can- I think it’s called Fiesta or Mexicorn- anyway it would be quite tasty added to a salad.A fun trip for just the price of petrol

Loved the chickens, my hometown currently has a decorated hare hunt to raise funds for the local hospice. There was something similar in London a few years to help with issue of elephants injured by landmines in Asia. There are also two other elephant herds currently in London ones in the royal parks and another at Spitalfields and other similar activities elsewhere in the UK. Something nice to do with maybe just a donation to a good cause. A local village swapped their open garden scheme with front garden displays of scarecrows but it was a bit sinister, like The Wicker Man🙂 Thanks for another great video.

You can get those veg boxes from a green grocers in the UK - just go in and ask, they are usually very happy to give them to you, they also have large sturdy plastic ones too!

You inspire me so much. I retire in two weeks 🎉 I have the opportunity to work another job after. While the salary is good, I want to be home and enjoy time with my husband after 32 years of working. If I would work two years it would be a nice cushion for us. You're helping me find peace with slowing down. I'm going to give retirement a try.
