About 2 years ago I bought 3 30¢ gold fish from Petco biggest one was a little over an inch long in a 30 gallon since day one been feeding YFS for pellets I use lots of there food for them. Then peas some spinach egg and live red wigglers!! Now all of them are huge! Looking for a 75 gallon 😁

Just thinking on your comment about the kidneys. Got me thinking. In the past I’ve purchased very large (and expensive!) Oranda and many of them develop dropsy from kidney failure within a year. I’m wondering if the fish farms feed too heavily to increase the value of the fish in as short as time as possible causing kidney damage/disease? Interestingly when I’ve bred my own fancies even from these large fish (or purchased very small fancies) and grown them slow but steady the kidney issues are incredibly rare. I wonder if anyone else has had similar issues and thinks there could be a link!?

I suggest adding kenta feeds to your fish's diet
@revenchua663311 ай бұрын
Luke just a suggestions. You can do like 50% daily WC. 90% just to much... If unfortunate They can be water shocked with that percentage... Try one 50% daily.. your feeding mizuho pellets.. those pellets not to much ash to SPoil the water faster.. always look for the ash percentage.. if ash is up to 20% those are dangerous for water but 10% to 12 are still good
@optimusprimeautobot2285 ай бұрын
I think it's because of his technique of doing water change... based on his video on how he does water change is that he would remove old water and replaces with new water at a slow rate so that the fish can adapt to the new water parameters slowly... therefore, enabling the fish to easily adapt to the new water condition...

How many times per day and how much food do you recommend to feeding baby goldfish to grow well for an average people on their homes?? Sorry if my English it’s not good. 😅
@lukesgoldies3 жыл бұрын
your english is great! for a baby goldfish you can feed 5-8 times a day GIVEN the water is clean. Clean water is the most important part. Feed them as much as they can eat in 30-60 seconds.

Not recommended use tap water unless filtered water or distile water cause it has tons of chlorine/flouride and tons chemical. Fish survive fresh sea water with good bacteria on it to have while tap water has no bacteria nor even good but with tons of chemical on it. I, think he use filtered water maybe less water bill or distile water unsure. Funny, thought company trying promote Tap Water to drink since it clean but never thought of not using Aquarium on it.

how are you able to do such large water changes without ruining the bacterial cycle? I have a 45 gallon tank with 6 goldfish, 5 oranda 1 ranchu. ranchu I got from a private seller he is beautiful, fat and his wen is nice & puffy looking. my orandas are smaller, about 3-4 inches, I’d like to bulk them up & increase their wen growth. I’m worried about over feeding because I don’t want to give them belly float/swim bladder disease.

Hey man this is soo cool. I have 3 fancy goldfish cuz of you, and your KZbin shorts videos. i have been having a lot of fun keeping the 3 fancy goldfish. Currently I have 2 oranda's and a black moor. i wish I could have a Pearl scale and a ranchu but i live in indonesia so getting those types of goldfish are a bit hard, if I wanted to buy those fishes i would need to go to the fish market (Jatinegara) and that's like 1 1/2 hours away on motorbike from my house. Not to mention if i want to get a good price i would need to come very early in the morning 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. so i am probably going to go later this year with my older brother since he has a car.

Ok, so I read that if I try to grow my goldfish too fast then it’ll tamper with their colors and they won’t look as good. Is there any truth to this? I bought all of my goldfish about 5 months ago. The tiger oranda is new though, I’ve only had her for a month. Im trying to get them to grow. They’re four inches. The smallest one is probably 3 1/2 inches. I am feeding them repashy gel food and I bought them frozen bloodworms and frozen spirulina shrimp. I had to remove the pellets because my big telescope eye started having problems. He started swimming with a tilt and his one eye is very big and it almost looks like his other eye is deflated. It is possible that he injured it which is weird, considering all my plants are silicone. I tested my water and it’s all perfect except the PH was low, so I also got some PH stabilizer. His tilt disappeared after feeding him nothing but gel food for 2 days and turning the heat up to 75 to help improve his digestive tract. Any other advice? I love your babies btw, they’re so adorable and their growth is amazing
