Extreme Home Makeover- Cat Edition

We stumbled upon a very sad situation 10 days ago...
While out searching for an injured cat, we came across a home that was covered in cat food cans and dishes. It was clear to us that the owner loved cats but was having a hard time keeping up with the work of caring for them.
We couldn't turn a blind eye to the situation and knew we had to help the cats and the home owner (Eliza).
We called in a favor to @burrtec_waste , and they donated a dumpster to us to help with the clean-up.
We got to work with a few of our volunteers over a 3 day period and got the front porch and side of the home cleaned and cleared of trash, brush, and debris.
This is just a small part of what needs to be done at this location. Next will be TNR on the outside cats, replacement of her security door, cleaning of the back yard, and finally getting to the cats and cleaning of the interior.
Our vet had been on a well-deserved vacation, so we haven't started catching the exterior cats yet. We will be starting TNR and vetting for them on May 9th. Eliza is making us a full list of the outside cats and the different issues they may be facing so that we can get them all of the help that they need.

Was just thinking the same thing. Hopefully she will reach out to these fine ladies if something happens to one of the cats and she can't help get help from anyone. I'm sure they would be happy to help her out.

I think they will regularly check and help.out, maybe drop off cat food and catch any new cats that come, and tnr. The lady can still be a local help to cats, with possibly the only friends she can rely on. I hope she lets them do a room or 2, in house, as well. They might be able to build trust. The rescue might be able to build an enclosure in her backyard and bring overflow cats there and clean it for her, and let her feed them, to help the rescue. I am sure she would love to help And provide space and feed and check, if they maintain. She will probably improve with such kind and supportive and non judgemental new friends.

Excellent job! I have a tremendous amount of admiration for you. I sincerely hope this can be maintained as often in cases like this it isn't just a matter of a clean up but perhaps a good dose of therapy too. I also hope the injured kitty is found soon!

I have no words! You guys are not just cat angels, but people angels. I truly believe that you were sent from heaven to help not just all the cats and kittens, but people too. This makeover must have meant the world to the senior citizen who was trying to help cats and things got out of control. I understand how that could happen. You didn't condemn, but instead got to work and did something about it. Gid bless you all!

I am amazed at your kindness and big hearts. So many people would have turned her in to the health department. As a senior with many health problems, I know how easy it is for things to become too much for you and escalate out of control. Being senior myself and loving cats I certainly feel for this lady. Thank you so very much for helping her and the kitties. I have 21 rescue kitties and it’s a lot of work and money to take care of them. I completely understand how it can get out of hand. I have three left to spay and neuter then I’m done.

It's a great thing that you all did for her, but it'll persist if that poor lady doesn't get help. I know this well, tons of cat food cans pile up, I throw them all away in a trash bin, but it takes up the whole bin. I too have a large cat colony and do TNR, and it's a LOT of work feeding and cleaning and doing TNR, and I don't get any help, and I'm 66, it just gets harder and harder. My husband use to help me, but he died almost 3-1/2 years ago, so it's become very hard for me. I REALLY wish there was someone like you guys to help me, but there isn't here, that I know of.

This was beautiful. I hope you check her regularly. She would probably allow you to build a walk in, biggish enclosure at her place, for emergency accomodation overflow. If you maintained it, I am sure she would love to feed them, watch over them, for you. Put in some lovely insulated mini hut, with beds.
