Really epic video Runa, riding in the winter and in those temperatures must be a experience of it’s own 🤩 I think you made the best decision to turn back. There’s times to challenge the limits and there’s times when not to challenge the limit. The whole trip itself anyhow is far out of most people’s comfort zone. When it’s -35 degrees celsius is hard to be outside doing things even without riding a motorcycle 🤩

So beautiful to be outside in weather like that, everything is so crisp and dry. But good idea to turn back, it requires specialized gear for that and if you get frostbitten you can get serious damage quickly but also you have a high risk of getting another frostbite in the same area in the future (it seems to lead to problems with the vasomotor function of the bloodvessels).

That’s bloody cold to be riding then at -30°C. We commonly get that cold during the winter where I live in the Canadian prairies. I thought about getting a snow bike kit for my DR650 when I had it but seems they don’t make a kit for it.

I've never experienced that kind of brutal cold before, it sure gives you respect for the environment! Canada looks absolutely fantastic. Like Norway's big brother!
@myronhorvathsk7 ай бұрын
@@OffSheGoesADV it sure does give you respect for the environment Runa! Where I live I am about 2000km from the west coast of Canada which would be most like Norway from what you’ve shown me. We can get winter temps during cold spells which can last about 2 weeks where the daytime high temperatures are about -30°C with overnight lows dropping down to -40°C or slightly colder and that’s before any windchill being factored into it. If you calculate windchill into the temperatures I have seen it down into the mid -50’s. That is brutally cold even for us. All of our vehicles here have block heaters on them so we can plug them in to warm the engines so they will start during winter. The terrain where I live is quite flat here by comparison to Norway. This is the area where most of the grain farming is. Growing cereal grains like wheat, oats and barley. Also oil seeds like canola and flax. There is a lot of canola grown in my area especially with two large canola crushing plants 12 miles from where I live by Yorkton Saskatchewan. Many people say that the scenery is boring here, but I think it’s beautiful here also during the summer with the crops making the fields all different colours.
