I love that it's STILL GOOD. Like they didn't just try to freak the audience out for a laugh. They gave a completely unknown band the most hilarious and exhilarating 15 minutes ever, then it turns out it's not just them and Bill created an actually fantastic and passionate thrash song, FOR THE AUDIENCE. For them to FEEL. And to ENJOY. Even at their most venomous they are fundamentally about unconditional positivity and celebration.

@John M. Not really anymore though. I wasn’t around in the early 90’s but there was this strange time in early 90’s in the U.K. where underground music popping up in the mainstream on occasions. Napalm Death performed on a show presented by Craig Charles in the 90’s. Nirvana infamously performed on Top Of The PoP’s just as they hit big. I think the reason why the early 90’s was a time when the U.K. media was somewhat okay with showing more underground music is because of the whole Rave and underground dance scene which was huge in the early 90’s in the U.K., and you also had this weird crossover between Rave music and Indie/Punk which the band EMF and their big hit Unbelievable was like a bridge or crossover between Rave/Dance music and Indie/Punk with both scenes borrowing stuff from each other, which I suppose helped create The Prodigy. But as well the U.K. media are very thick as shit when it comes to heavy or underground music, I think the U.K. media seem to think all heavy or underground music is the same and has all the same fan bases, so the U.K. media don’t have a fucking clue of what’s what.

@@nu-metalfan2654 i think the context is different there; extreme metal in particular is trotted out to be made fun of in Britain. Look at how Never Mind The Buzzcocks used Cradle of Filth and Napalm Death as running gags. Look at the episode of Skins that had metal in the soundtrack. Look at how Virgin Trains thought they could just *steal* a song by Carnifex because lmao who cares about actually licensing a deathcore song? Extreme metal in the UK was never taken seriously, even back then. It was a thing to make fun of.

All I saw was a guy awkwardly waving a gun around waiting for his cue. Then (ironically) you couldn't hear the gunshots because of the extreme noise. It looked like he just waived the gun round a bit then ran off. You probably had to be there... Never mind. Seems like they enjoyed it, so that's nice. 😁
