You guys are amazing. I know most of you have been doing this a long time but those elite skis in big following seas are a handful. The ease with which you paddle is remarkable.

Thanks John. I really appreciate your comments mate. 7 years later and I still haven't seen conditions like this again. My PB has gone up a bit since then, but I'd love to see how fast I could go in these same conditions............I'll keep dreaming of the day 🤞😁

Surf ski's wow. Hooting downwind. I did it on a sea kayak, but a Surf ski faster and lighter. Wing paddle great for power, and balancing. Awesome video. Some fast paddlers there.

This is great. I was recently riding in some small tidal swells near Fishers Island. Small swells were a rush. I can only imagine what those must have felt like. Good paddling and video. Be well.

Thanks Kurt. Fishers Island New York?? That's certainly a long way from Perth. Yep, it's pretty awesome when you get into the more extreme conditions, so much fun to be had!!!

Amazing Video, How did you manage to keep the water drops off the Camera..
@daz-downwindpaddleactionz15512 жыл бұрын
Thanks Derek. I use 'Rainex' which repels the water and causes it to bead and roll off the lens.

Thanks Brad. Just checked my Garmin splits and yep, at that point in the paddle I hit a couple of k's at an average of 17.5 km/h.

Thanks Edrisse. We have great downwind conditions in Perth, so it's alot of fun and easy to improve our skills. Going faster now ;)

Certainly was Mark. We've had bigger conditions, but Sunday was FAST! Gopro head strap over my paddling cap.

Sometime it feels like you are about to get a huge run and get too fast then you move out? Mind sharing the reason? Like at 4:03.
@daz-downwindpaddleactionz15516 жыл бұрын
Hi Edrisse. There are a few reasons for this, the first being that to keep moving parallel up the coast I have to roll right into a run then cut left off the run and hunt the next one. If you stay on a big run too long you head into shore, the run loses energy and you end up losing momentum in your paddle from the start to finish points. The second is that the highest peaks of the chop (where the most energy is) constantly shift position, especially when the wind chop interacts with the swell and if you don't see where to go early enough and react immediately, you miss the run. The third is that I have improved my downwind skills alot since I made this video, therefore at the time simply wasn't using what was offer to its fullest potential. I would love to have these conditions on my next paddle......my best average speed for a paddle is now 16.8km/h........in these conditions I'm confident I would smash that average :)

where'd you get that mad wave deflector from Khngy.im getting my first fenn on the weekend.carbon spark.looks like i might set up something like that.and maybe a bungy area behind seat.i like your slow mo footage-ice got a sony.do you have a mount on ski or just head and paddle.your footage is great-do you have a stack hat or head straps for video.hope to be doing doctor this year so will see you down there.bev.
@daz-downwindpaddleactionz15518 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bev. The wave deflector was made by Walter Chalupsky who is one of my paddling mates. Definately the way to go, keeps alot of water out of the cockpit and creates some great slo-mo footage ;) I've got a suction cup mount, but don't have many tethering options on my Elite S so now mainly just go with the head strap over my paddling cap and occasionally rig up the paddle selfie cam. Glad you enjoy the footage. Say g'day if you get down for The Doctor - it should be massive this year!!
