Building and maintaining momentum can be extremely difficult. That’s why Craig wrote his book Lead Like It Matters: 7 Leadership Principles for a Church That Lasts. This book will help you ignite a life-giving, soul-transforming, people-inspiring movement in your organization, church, or ministry.

As a leader, do you err on the side of being direct or being kind?

I try not to be direct but I often am at the expense of being kind. I know that I need work in this area. I have admitted this up front to my team and my oversight. There is freedom in admitting to and working on my weakness. Thank you so much for all that you do.

Pastor Craig, your leadership style is something that I aspire to be. In the very sense where you mentioned that the quality of leader often shows up in these seemingly contradicting scenarios where leaders are extremely confident, but at the same time very humble. They are also extremely driven but at the same time very healthy, flexible but focused. In this, I found that learning how to balance between both paradoxes is what makes a good leader because he will be able to decipher the needs of those around him, in order to best guide and benefit the group as a whole. It is no doubt that there is intentionality in leadership and we strive to have the "it" factor.

Great concepttttt!!! Thank you all at CGLPodcast ... And i want to share a simple idea, listening to Craig's perspective on this, i came up with mine and i want to share it you guys ... maybe is nt like they are oposed ideas .... i think they are extremely demanind to comute from one to the another. I like to see them as complements, demanding complements to harmonize in every situation ... and quoting the Bible too ... i think love reveals once again as the answer to the dilemma

The grace of God is NOT developed by the self. It is developed by a God who loves His children. It is the mercy and grace of God through HIS available believing followers, who want to serve His purposes. The “development” takes great commitment and time of learning from God, to prepare. My opinion of you, Craig, is that you are in the “development” process. Don’t ever get discouraged. There is a promise that says, “if we do not grow weary in well-doing, we will reap a great reward.” Ramsey also says, “if you believe you can, you can. If you believe you can’t, you can’t.” God would totally agree with Dave.

Reading Lead Like It Matters right now. It is fascinating to see how much Life Church has evolved since It came out in '08. I think they only had about half a dozen campuses at the time. I want to say that they have at least 36 or 37 now.
