Extreme RX 72 x 25 Toolbox review

I looked at the specs of this box and the weight is listed as 1132. That tells me it is solid relative to other boxes of the same size, heavier grade metal and materials. Thanks much for the video, I hope to own one soon.

I am a heavy equipment/industrial engine mechanic I have this same box in blue for the past 7 years and had 0 issues. one drawer is completely loaded with my 3/4" and 1" drive sockets The drawer does sag a little when completely extended but it's a heavy drawer. I would 100% recommend these boxes. Edit: I didn't realize these boxes were $3500+ now. I would still recommend these boxes over the icons Considering both of them are priced the same. These extreme tools boxes are a little nicer quality. I'm really glad I bought my box when I did I paid $2100 ship

@@mfrank50no I don't have one I don't like their hutch setup. Search "extreme tools rx 72 inch tool box hutch" on KZbin rockin tool boxes has a video talking about extreme tools hutch. I myself would probably get the icon or us general hutch.

It is one hell of a box with 12 gauge steel frame...Thats insane dude wow...really cant be beat for the money no question.

It was a much better deal when it was 2/3 the current price back when I bought it, but it's still an excellent option if someone is looking.

This was actually one of the main deciding factors for me when I was comparing available boxes at the time (Icon and Masterforce @ Menards were the other two in consideration).

Would you say fit and finish as well as sturdiness of the RX feels the same as the Icons you handled. There is a 350lb difference between the two 72" bottom cabs and I'm trying to figure out if I'll feel the weight loss of the RX in function. Like you posted on reddit, I'm tired of waiting for the Harbor Freight Coupon game.

I actually feel like the RX is sturdier than the Icon. The drawers are far more solid feeling to me in terms of weight and movement. When I was testing out an Icon I noticed the drawers wobbling around a lot as you move them and they were much lighter to handle. I'm not sure where the weight difference is coming from, but I'd imagine structurally you'd never have to worry about either one.

Fair Question. Dollar for dollar I'd absolutely recommend this over a truck box. At the end of the day it's a box your tools get stored in. Doesn't need to cost $7-10K or more. This is even pushing it's cost limit at this point given I purchased in 2021 for $2400 and it's at $3600 now. Having had my hands on various Snap On's including some Epiq's and plenty of other truck boxes, there's really no reason to recommend a truck box unless it's some unique thing that you absolutely must have. This box feels every bit the same as an Epiq or a Matco 6S.

I believe it would be extremely similar to this. Almost identical by what I've seen save for greater drawer depth.

Can you switch the right side drawers around? Like could change the top deep drawer to two shallow drawers?

The way it's designed, yes. Getting the drawers is another story though. The MFR I purchased from seemed to indicate that you could special order drawers/slides, but I didn't ask about lead time or cost (I want to replace the large drawer on the bottom left with some smaller ones.

@@kwmiked Yeah they were the only one with the Black/Blue color combo. I guess it's their exclusive and I couldn't get white so this was my next favorite combo. As for the drawers, haven't changed any around yet though I'm about to explore the option. If I go through with it I'll make an updated vid to show the process.

Looking at buying one of these I have a 56 inch general that is very full and I am woried i will run out of run with it being only 25 inches deep how do you like it

It's been working out fantastic for me. The US General is only 22" deep so this has more depth and a better drawer layout (compared to the USG 72 I was originally intent on buying). That said......I moved from an overflowing 44" top and bottom Craftsman combo and though I've got every drawer in this box being used, I also have a lot of room to grow into.

@@TT99C5 good to know I bought one rx 72 by 25 in blue with black trim with a hutch, the only question I have for you is how long did it take to get it and was it a hassle getting it delivered

@@tylerquinn Only took about a week but I'm only a 3 hour drive. Delivery was a pain though. Paid for a liftgate delivery and they wanted to bring a full semi into a residential neighborhood. Just wasn't going to work. Ended up having to organize picking up myself and had to hound them for a delivery fee refund.

Does the drawers really come out fully so its flush? I just got my RX the other day and it doesnt have the brand or the mag style wheels. I do like it though no complaints. I agree on the box being every bit as good as a snap on or Mac box that cost over $10k

On mine, they are definitely full extension drawer slides. I have a rail of sockets at the rear of the top drawer and I can life them straight up if I fully extend it.

@@TT99C5 I'll have to check mine out better, mine might be a closeout model. I'll get a video up of it this week I hope. Super stoked to of got this box I could of got a snap on or mac box used in mint condition for a little more money but they just didnt compare to what this box is in build quality and options with the 3 long drawers across the top. You gotta spend like $15000 on a epiq to get that, then the fact it doesn't have options for power tools that really drive up the price of the box. Check out the channel Greasy shop rag' he made his own power drawer and sourced the parts himself for a fraction of the price, he has a really awesome customized US General box.

You probably have the 21” deep drawers. Standard model. Those don’t come all the was out. Still very nice and much cheaper.

@@Toyotas_n__Tools u got the RX7225RC 16draw thats like the base box. Only 100-200lb draws, this guy got the RX722519RC-X 19 draw 150-300 draws comes in all the other colors, yours is only blue or black. The RC-X Is $3-400 more. U gotta watch what they sell cause there are a few models that u will get tricked on and think your getting a just as good box but its a little cheaper. Right now I'm debating the EXQ 72x30 but its only 17draw but heaver gauge base and draw latches are the better ones over the RX , I think the EXQ shallow draws are a tad deeper reason there is only 17 instead of 19, like this guy mentioned his big wrenches hit above draw. This is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to see where the differences are from the 19-17 draw. In the pics the 19 draw shallow draws look a bit deeper. But I guess not

@@Toyotas_n__Tools The EXQ comes with stainless top, 300-600lb draw, better latches, and the 11ga frame. The RX 19 draw is like 950lb the EXQ is around 1150lb, where yours is 540lb, gotta watch and research what u buying, This box is equivalent or better then a Epiq
