Proper LOLGybe at the end. Missing the straps and hiking out = top quality comedy everytime. I've dumped my crew when he was on the wire with the exact same sketch. missed the toe strap, hiked, GONE. Gotta luv it. Peace and Luv. Thx for a great video.

That was the funnest 10 minutes this New Mexico bound Michigander has had in a while. Those were the most alive moments I've ever had. I can't tell you how homesick I am now. LASER MADNESS!!

Great fun... thanks for a well edited vid and the soundtrack was nice and upbeat... there is just something special about harnessing the power of the wind and flying across the ocean that makes for exhilaration.

Gotta say My boat of choice in crazy windspeeds as illustrated at 4:33 is the International 420. You can take that boat out in stupidly high winds and silly sea states and have an absolute ball. I sail a laser 4000 now most of the time but when we chicken out of that on a particularly wild day the 420 is still an absolute blast. Best training boat ever. I bought mine in poor repair for pocket money from a uni sailing club and did it up for less than £200. Crazy fun. Bargain of the century.

When sailing the Finn, I have had the opportunity to rescue a fellow Finn sailor, who was very far away from his overturned boat, no life jacket, and could have drowned had I not noticed him, and picked him out of the water, and slumped him down into my Finn. Taking him in very possibly saved my life also on Lake Balaton, as I have almost always wore a life/bouyancy jacket after the event of rescuing him, and with his extra weight in my Finn, the two of us reached Balatonfoedvar harbour safely.

Spent many a summer as a kid sailing Lasers. We would purposely have a knockdown while jumping off the rail at exactly the same time as the boat came to an abrupt stop. It would send my 12 year-old self flying. Sometimes up to 15 feet! What a blast.

Almost picked up an Aussie 18 ( 30 years ago )once but the bride said NO, Would have loved to sailed that little rocket ( too damn old now ) Great video guys. Sail on

The amount of bend in a laser's mast in a blow in something to behold. Just incredible how much wind it's dumping out the top 1/3rd of the sail.... In a stayed mast the boat would be a wreck... :-0

The first Moth I have sailed was of a flat design, very stable, made of marine plyboard, and the mast was fixed with three metal wires and spanners. The second Moth was more of a narrow design, with a triangular front, and flatter back, also with a swert in the middle. The third, so called Europa Moth was also built of thinner marine plyboard, and looked almost like the Laser, wider at the back. The winged Moth I have not had the opportunity to try. Later I sailed a Finn on Lake Balaton,Hungary.

So TRUE. I sail a laser L4k now and we measure our speed by the harmonic from the centreboard. 3rd harmonic plane or 4th order. It's cool. :-) Apparently it slows the boat down and people advocate shaving the centreboard to kill the vibration but we like it. So She has a beard. Our L4K. She's Wonderful. :-))))))))))))

I have also found it good practice to tie the end of the gross-schott to my belt/buckle area, and wear a Levi's jeans, buttoned and riveted version of Levi's, for Finn sailing so that the belt does not rip off from the body of the trousers, and leave me in the water, with the boat being floated far away from myself, left in the middle of the water. As a result of the Kolontar 2010 disaster, I fell that my practice of sailing with a wooden mast, instead of an aluminium mast gives more bouyancy.

Looks like fun, so long as you are tough and the water is warm. Music a bit much. On April 1, 2016, in Charleston Hbr, saw some folks fooling around with a little foil sailboat, similar conditions to these. That thing went at least 40 knots (for short periods of time). Really looked like fun.

If I had seen this video 5 years ago, it would have been very entertaining and I'd consider it extreme... enough. I probably would have watched it a couple times. I love me some dinghies, especially in the soup. Its still entertaining, it just appears its being shot in slow-mode when you are used to sailboats over 30 knots. Hell even the 18's, or any of the skiffs, have lost a chunk of "extreme value". It's rare one gets to see such dramatic moments of windfall advancement and technology as we have with foiling. Especially with a concept about as old as man itself is. There's no going back, kiddos.
@midvale5thyear9 жыл бұрын
I should have added that the things being learned at CERN with their particle collider to the once in a lifetime game-changing list. I think we are all lucky to just be in the audience for these advancements... but Id sure like to playing too ;-) even with just a Moth. Anybody bored with their's?

I don't like when the power boat gets too close to the sailboat, and the sailboat has to deal with the powerboats wake! The sailboat has a hard enough time trying to stay in control in the rough seas, and it makes it that much harder when the powerboat gets in too close to the sailboat just so the cameraman can get a good close up action shot! Give the sailboat a wide berth to maneuver, instead of tripping up the sailboat with wake turbulence!

Yeah. i remember when this used to put me in the drink.. I know there is super hi-tech and extreme carbon fibre what ever designs..but someone had to push it before we got to 'today' and that was me and my generation.. No support.. No Internet and all expensive repairs and that after buying an expensive 'boat/ already.. If you were super extreme fit..you had a go.. and these vids are a result... young people of today are so afraid to get out there they hide behind there PS4 or other video game and pretend they are there.. freeze your ass of, exhaust yourself, push every skill you have and experience real joy! and life.. Life doesn't start at 'Press Play'!
@nataliakubica29889 жыл бұрын
Not all children are addicted to video games you know. Just because some spoilt brats who get everything they want have their xboxes and ps4s and whatever and spend all of their life on it doesn't mean we all do. I'm 12 and I've already got stage 3 sailing, stage 3 rowing and stage 2 windsurfing, I wouldn't exactly call that hiding behind a video game, would you?! Sorry, I just get really angry when people stereotype kids or however you say it.

+bicanoo_magic This generation you speak of is the one you raised...great parenting. My generation was not as fortunate to be born through the post war economic surge of America. Thank you for leaving us with a 17 trillion dollar debt! and a pesticide, logged, mined, climate change fucked planet to deal with, we would love to sail but we can't due to garbage in our oceans from shipping containers to the great pacific plastic dump consuming our oceans. Now I pay out the arse for medicare, not for my young healthy body, it is for you! Your Welcome! Enjoy your golden years in Palm springs while your children sit at home trying to find work to pay for all the insurances and over morgaged debt you left us. Seems like you enjoy the internet....who gave that to you? Have some respect.
@bicanoo_magic34528 жыл бұрын
+sirlandsalot Hahaha.. .I'm not of that generation and not from your country. My kids do rock climbing, skydiving, cannon swings and the like in New Zealand and in Europe and Australia. They both have excellent education and junior management jobs. They worked their bloody arses off to get their. That's how it's done. They both have gaming degrees and both play at least one musical instrument regularly. We live 'off-grid' and built everything from recycled material.. BTW. It was me and my buddies in IT that gave YOU the internet. I personally built many many networks for all the major companies and government agencies in Australia and overseas at the time when the net was but a baby. We recycle everything. Australia has the most efficient recycling in the world. So much so overseas waste management companies come here to study what we have done.. BTW. Your total nation's debt is in the 100's of Trillions. You only quoted official Government debt which is a false statistic put out by your government to cover themselves. Your Medicare system was copied from us. Everyone here has basic free health care. Its normal. So puullleaase don't tell me you've done anything for me. and puuulleeease don't assume anything that YOUR government has done is any way related to me. I suggest you grow a pair and fix your own problems first.
