It is a royal ceremony in which Thai kings go to make merit by water, which has been passed down for no less than 700 years, since Sukhothai until the present. The latest ceremony was held in 2019. I personally had the opportunity to watch this royal ceremony 42 years ago. If you are going to watch, I recommend that you prepare water and a hat because it will be very hot. The procession will leave from Wasukri Pier to Wat Arun along the Chao Phraya River, but I am not sure if the government has scheduled. Where to stop to watch the royal ceremony, you may have to search from Google again.

Wow! A-dam! This video was absolutely your best one EVER! I am not exaggerating when I saw, it's award worthy! We can only imagine the amount of research you put into this. Whatever the effort, it resulted in an absolutely spectacular video. And, I giggled when you said avocado milkshakes are your new favorite. I get mine at Bikini Bottom Express in Da Nang, Vietnam; avocado & coconut milk, with a sprinkle of chia on the top...yum! For coffee, I do the iced coffee with coconut milk at Bamboo Bob Coffee...delish! I'm heading to Da Nang, for a month, on Tuesday so, I'll be watching your next videos with one of them there Vietnamese delights to sip on. Thanks for taking us along on your amazing adventures. *please consider entering this video into any short film competitions that may be happening this year or, at any time in the future...it really is award winning. ** The National Film Board of Canada may be a good place to start.

Adam! Magnificent!!! I'm breathless, what a stunning presentation of culture, custom. The deepest believers, offer their bodies as receptacles of proof that their transcended faith disallows pain! In that moment they are beyond earthly existence and dwell in the faith of their beliefs! Some of these exhibits, proof of faith is seen in several countries. In Mexico walking on your knees to make pilgrimage to the shrine of La Virgen de Guadalupe is common. Torn and blooded knees is symbol of faith. I must say the production value of this video is spectacular. You really stepped up the game, brother. I'm proud of you! Hope you're feeling better! I got to get my friends to see this vid!!!

Ma Song is the spirit of Chinese god haulted in the representative who accepted the sin instead of people who participated in vegetarian festival.

This kind of vegetarian festival does not exist in China. But eating vegetarian food in China is considered normal for Chinese people who practice Mahayana Buddhism. Therefore, the mediums in this festival are the mediums of Chinese gods and Bodhisattvas, which is a combination of Taoism and Mahayana Buddhism. The main Buddhist sect in Thailand is Theravada. Therefore, what the medium describes as his trance is not the Buddha, but a god according to the beliefs of Mahayana and Taoism. As for the vegetarian festival, it is a local culture of Chinese people living in southern Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and parts of Indonesia. Chinese people in China normally eat vegetarian food according to their personal beliefs without this kind of festival.😊🙏🇹🇭

Hey! You’re absolutely right, the Phuket Vegetarian Festival has strong roots in Mahayana Buddhism and Taoism, originating from Chinese traditions. It’s amazing how it evolved here in Thailand with the local Thai-Chinese community while keeping those religious customs alive. Thanks for sharing such a thoughtful insight! 🙏 🇹🇭

@@TheCountryCollectors Thailand and Thai people have been a place that has been open to all cultures and religions since ancient times. You can see this example from the diverse religious architecture that is gathered in the same area. Thai temples and mosques are also found near Christian churches in many places in Thailand. Even the rituals related to the king are in the form of Brahmanism since ancient times along with Buddhism. The villagers also accepted from the king but still retained the belief in worshipping ghosts and spirits of ancestors which is the oldest and most ancient religion. When Westerners came to the kingdom, the king allowed them to live there and spread their religion freely. The people were allowed to change their religion as they wished. The same is true for Muslims from Persia who also came. Therefore, Mahayana Buddhism which came with the Chinese immigrants who came in large numbers especially in areas near the sea has been rooted in Thailand since ancient times.😊
