I just got a 2000 Miata and I am in love with it, however the fuel pump metal housing is so soft and flaky rusty more than cornflakes. I am starting my project to work on it today. The whole fuel pump and modules are so flaky rusty that it is like rust powder between my fingers 😢. I have no way to replace the tank, but I will have to clean it. I only have my driveway to do it and it is really steep one 😢

2:25 I have the exact same rust right there. my car was left for 6 years outside with no back window and a broken top before I picked it up today. it was growing moss! I just ripped off the carpets and was going to change fuel pump when I found that rust. now I’m researching😂

Yeah the ppf is a massive pain in the butt to remove from the diff. I done a manual conversion. Bought a wrecked 5 speed donor car and transfered the running gear into an auto, so I had to remove TWO ppfs from cars that have never had their ppf removed and the bolts were seized and it just sucked big time. I have to replace the tank and I'm really not looking forward to doing the ppf from the diff and might just do what you did instead.

Hi this is off topic but your video was so good maybe you can answer my miata issue or someone here? I have tried everything to fix the fuel gauge on my 1991 miata and Idk what to do. New fuel pump, new fuel sending unit, 1991 miata had been sitting for 15 yrs but it is running well now except for smelling like gas inside the car. thanks in advance!
