I had an 1985 XR200 and the 350, the 200 brand new and the 350 a year and a half later as a second owner. Both would do an indicated 90 mph with enough room. Spent many miles in baja on both as a young teenager doing my best hand on the left fork tuck while pinned down the highway stretches. Took the 200 from pyramid lake to denio idaho across Black Rock. Great bikes...

Ok. Had a XR250, same model etc, was out riding in the thick bush, was feeling a bit hot on the right leg, looked down and the fuel line had come off and ignited on the hot exhaust! By the time I put out the bush fire with my jacket I noticed a blob of orange plastic smouldering on the ground! My XR250 was gone! The memories I get from your videos are flooding back with every one! Thanks again guys! Cheers from downunder! 👍🏻

There are some beautifully made 350 Enduro or Dual Sports currently made. KTM & Husky both have models, Beta has a 390. The typical Japanese models have some awesome ones too, but they’re like 400’s & whatnot. But you can’t go wrong with the KTM or Husky.

Beautiful bike! Those were the years when Honda was really King across the board of their models. That bike depending on tires and what gearing will easily do 80mph and probably has a little over 30hp. Great all around trail bikes but very well built for serious off road if you wanted too. I would love to buy that if it was for sale. I did have a DR350 which was similar in every way but a decade newer but still not as good as the Honda overall. It would make a great retirement gift to me from my first career retirement at 50yrs old two years ago. Still sitting on my bonus check for unused sick days..lol...16K in unused sick days from that job. I now am self employed.

I had this particular year XR350. Great bike. Got a lot of trophies racing NETRA back then on it. However I must say that the 350 and the 600 weigh about the same. Not lighter as you stated.

I had one of these and a 92 xr600r in my garage at the same time last year. I sold the 600 because it was too heavy for tight single track and still have the 350. Sorry but there is a massive weight difference between the 350 and the 500/600- have known all 3 intimately.

My memory thinks there was about 20 lbs. difference. My brother had an XL350r which was 269 lbs. and an XL600r was about 300lbs. 30 lbs. is define fly noticeable!

You’re right on that fact that they’re not much different physical weight wise but i feel that the real difference is when it’s running and moving, all of the extra rotating mass of the 500 & 650 make them feel significantly heavier

I have not see one in this condition except when they were new on the showroom floor. These 85-86 350cc engines had weak 3rd gear heat treating that can cause them to fail over time. -This one is almost new so it isn't an issue. 1985 is my favorite Honda year and the XR/XL, ATC250r, 200x/350x and CRs of this year are my favorite bikes. The values of these bikes go up every year so collectors generally don't sell them.

Love those xl350s always wanted one but I ended up with the CL because I thought at the time that I was going to be more of a a street Rider than a dirt Rider and the CLS had the headlights and tail lights and turn signals and all that but they were kind of cool because they had trials tires and upswept pipes and I thought well yeah it can be used off-road and on-road both so I got the Cl but the XL is a great bike also.

I think the 350s are perfect, I’m a big guy and 250s just don’t cut it, they’re fine on flat ground and streets but on hills or speed this struggle come of the 350 gets you there pretty easily. I drove an XL 600 and I loved it but it was heavy and you had to be careful driving it, for me this is perfect easy but plenty of power. Give me this for the dirt and the 1984 XL 350 for zipping around town and dirt roads and I’m a happy camper

I'm 49 so a genuine kid of the 80s In the fear of sounding like an nostalgic old man that hates technology and evolution and thinks everything old is better... BUT I can easily say I think older bikes have that something extra the new ones do not have. The performance of modern dirt bikes is superior in about every way except they totally lack the "soul" the older bikes have. I think 80s bikes have a something the modern bikes can't replicate. Maybe it is just a nostalgia thing... But even when my 21 yo kid sees mid 80s bikes he says man that is cool so that's a testament that maybe I'm right...?
