In this video, I capture a rare garbage truck Molok system where the garbage bins are underground The truck operator using a remote control. The highly skilled operator, picks up the bin with a hydraulic boom and positioned the garbage over the rear of the garbage truck then pulls a cord to release the garbage at this time he is running the packer to make space for the garbage. This was a waste management, repack CNG vehicle Mac truck. This was filmed in Brampton Ontario Canada thank you for watching

Love the concept. Maintenence on these must be a pain in the butt. I see these not as really efficient but, also messy and i could see these ripping open one day and spilling fly larvae and everything else onto the ground.

Im from Portugal, these underground gargabe containers are common across Europe as a all, i´ve also worked in garbage colection including these type. Molok´s (which have the same name in Portugal curiously enough but with a diferent spelling) are really used in cities to save space above ground as they allow the colection of a very large quantity of garbage, just underground with a very small portion sticking out above ground. Your concerns are completely valid and and they happened from time to time, it also comes down the model of the Molok being used, the type in the video i never worked with but apears to be a better design, older types are just a rope that goes around metal rings to tie the bag with a good metal spiggot stuck in the rope to prevent it from sliding and opening the bag at the bottom, these are much more prone to opening too early because a worker needs to keep the rope tight without the spiggot until the bag is placed on the truck hopper, if for some reason his colleague operating the crane does a very sudent movement, the guy with the rope might let it go and you have 2 tons of garbage on the ground that you have to pick up with a shovel which will take upwards of 2 hours. For maintenance, we have a small van that is operated by 2 people, the van haves a water reservoir, high pressure washing machine and a water pump, the bag from the Molok can be pulled by hand which isn´t easy but duable, you wash the bag inside the Molok tube itself so the water doesn´t flow to the street which wouldn´t be good, you then scoop the water from inside the Molok with the water pump, a guy then goes inside with a ladder to scrub the all thing with a cloth and help scoop the remaining water since its not good to leave a decent size amount of water inside these. Of course nowdays, there´s large trucks, automatic washing setups and all sorts of solution for maintenance of Molok´s and what not, the company i worked with was still very much older type methods and machines

Seems like it’s more of a space issue, bulky garbage bins tend to take up space in smaller areas, having these fixed into the concrete is a great solution but time consuming to empty

@@ronblack7870well the noise is just the hydraulic pump, nothing to do with the crane really. Garbage trucks need better dampening for the hydraulic pumps. That would help.

Looks to be one stout crane with that much tele, which is cool. But this will never be common for many reasons. If the crane is rated for over 6000lbs in the US it technically requires the operator to hold and maintain a CCO license, which isn't cheap or something everybody is able or willing to do. That also means the unit itself should technically be osha'd, inspected and certified as a crane, again not cheap and a recurring expense. There's far too much risk and liability in the application - falling objects, operating conditions - low height bridges, structures, and most dangerous of all overhead power lines. The potential to touch a power line alone is enough to keep this kind of machine a rarity.

It's better in two, maybe three areas. One, it's mostly out of sight, unlike an ugly dumpster. Two, it seems well sealed so bears and rodents should be easily locked out. This is a huge concern in some areas. It's generally forbidden to hunt bears so they are spreading even into more urban settings where they can find lots of garbage. Three, it should keep snow out. I call this a maybe advantage because a properly closed dumpster will also do this but many places don't bother to close them.

"Thumbs Up" on your video but "Thumbs Down" on this waste management concept which comes out of Northern Europe and is used in various countries overseas. As you can see in your video, when the "textile" sack is emptied into the rear hopper of the garbage truck, garbage drops everywhere on the ground and it is very messy. This always happens with MOLOK containers. QUESTION: Did the operator of the truck have to sweep up all the garbage that fell onto the ground? And, if so, how did he get all of that fallen garbage up into that rear "elevated" hopper??? LOL!!! Furthermore, what happens with that "textile" sack when it eventually gets saturated with garbage juice, fly larvae, etc...? I would think that could become a health hazard when left unnoticed and unattended underground and not cleaned/washed. Give me a (Dempster) dumpster any day of the week! -- nhoJ

@@byjoligarbageman Thanks for your replies! I am ancient "physical age-wise", but I stay young because of watching waste collection and garbage trucks over the many decades. I've rubbed shoulders with the (residential) solid waste industry since the 1950's and I remember when Dempster Dumpster was first introduced and the City of Cincinnati started getting dumpsters before the front-end loader garbage trucks were invented. In the very beginning, each (Cincinnati) dumpster had to be taken by a Loadstar cabover International Harvester chassis truck to be dumped and then the dumpster was returned to the commercial place of business. When the front-end loaders were acquired by the City of Cincinnati, this old method of emptying the dumpsters was abandoned. But, from the very beginning, the dumpster was a very clean and efficient way to collect garbage from commercial establishments, apartment buildings, etc....
