this really speeds up workflow from having to create in 3d program and import. Also when you want to make a change you don't have to go back to 3d program and re-export. Awesome plugin!

i think you can do it using the Replicator Shape, in the options click on "particle Replicator", and in Replicator Shape, try to use Sphere, maybe can helps

Im sure youre right. I am not a 3D guy myself but for (TV) commercial work it is going to help a lot. Where I had to hire 3D artists to do animations and such, I can now create great 3D effects without the render time/prices in a workflow that I have been familiar with for a long time. I love it.

The text/mask needs to be on its own layer. Not the same layer the effect is on. I don’t know why but when I added the effect to its own bland solid and the text on a different layer, I set the custom path and it worked.

You've probably realized by now that you will still need a 3D software to model, animate and texture your object. But yeah, I cannot deny that this is one great plugin.

You have to do under custom layers and choose a text layer

you should create a new solid and a text. Choose solid and choose the element plug-in to it. then go to custom text layers and choose your text. then go to the scene setup and extrude it.

When you click scene setup , go to the top where it says extrude . Click it and then it should pop up in element 3d .

Yea no more long render times :) Unless you want some real reflections ofc. It would be dumb to uninstall your 3D software though since the modelling in element, is not so complex, but the import works really well. Haven't tested fbx imports, but .obj imports like a charm :)

if you were to use your ability to "read" (yes, people still read now days), and go to the link he provided in the description, you will see that Element 3D is compatible with CS3 and up, just sayin, don't ask already answered questions

You had to put the element in a solid layer, I put mine in the text so that was my problem. Hope this helps and let me know how you make out. I'm not trying to figure out why my text keeps coming back smaller then the original. :(

Make sure you're applying the element 3d effect to a solid layer that is not the text itself.

There is one major problem with this. When you zoom in close enough to the text you will notice that there are missing faces and what not. A simple fix to this would have been lowering the bevel or extrude but it still does not fix it. If you can help me with this problem it would be much appreciated, but other than that this program is worth the money!

If it can perform modeling and accept deformation/animations from fbx exports i'll probably say gudby to long render time in mental ray. Archiving the quality of render like this in a 3D program is hell.VC has just revolutionize motion graphics and VFX forever.

Element looks absolutely fantastic! I have one question though, anyone who has element already can help me out. Can you load your own custom environments? I see there is a load from file option, but I don't know if you can just use your own correctly sized file as an environment.

That is true, but if you wanna model a helicopter or other complex models, you need to work with a 3D software :) It will probably change soon though...

I must have the settings wrong on my program because after I've chosen my bevel and hit OK I still have a 2D layer in my composition. I try making that layer 3D by clicking that box but that does nothing. Ray-traced 3D is on. When I use the camera tool I'm not able to pan around a 3D text like in the video. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

It's strange. This morning I tried to follow along with the tutorial and ran into a similar issue. After the bevel adjustments (or even just after extruding) and clicking "OK" I was left with a 2D layer of the 3D text I created. Adjusting the camera would only allow me to pivot around the 2D version. But this evening I tried the process over again (3 times now) and it works just fine. I'm happy its working, but I'd be happier if I could identify what the issue was in the first place.
