My experience with Vuity has been traumatic to say the least. Fifteen minutes after putting in the drops I experienced severe headaches followed by multiple floaters in my central vision. I called my optometrist and he examined my eyes for a retinal tear which was negative. However, several days after using the drops I developed PVD (posterior vitreous detachment) characterized by flashing lights in the peripheral vision. Again, I went back to my optometrist to get examined and was negative for a retinal tear. However, now I must endure 3 to 6 months of increased floaters and light flashes before they gradually go away. This medication is DANGEROUS and should be taken off the market.

Great summary and I love how you touched on the study and side effects. It's not yet available in Australia but I'm sure my patients will start asking about this soon. Looking forward to watching your review on it when you get your hands on some. 🙂

The rep said she has a sample for me which she's going to give me this week! So we'll see if it works on my tiny pupils and if i get a headache for it. My husband is a high myope, so I think it's best if he doesn't use it given the RD risks.

You are an excellent Ophthalmologist. Dr. Wong! Very impressive! Personally, my near vision, is good enough. I can read this at 22 inches, no plus lens. I use the plus to prevent re entry into myopia. My naked eye, 20/20, on my Snellen. The plus lens $10, for prevention of myopia. A drug, $1,000 per year. I do not see the need for it, at all. We have different goals in our lives. I believe that "nearsightedness ", is indeed always preventable, if the person has the resolve to do what I am doing.

You don't need to worry doc, you are beautiful! I thought you were in your 30's! Thank you for the info. I do have a question, I had a very aggressive cataracts in my late 40's and lost almost all my vision until they figured it out. Would this help my vision at all with an artificial lens? It seems like my vision is getting worse with an artificial lens? I appreciate your time if you get the chance to answer. Thank you! 💖🕯️🙏♾️
@DrRupaWong3 жыл бұрын
It's not likely to work if you have an artificial lens. Unfortunately, that means you have no natural accommodation left and this drop is meant for people in their 40-50's who should still have some accommodative amplitude.

So, real life experience. Tried the drops for the first time and eyes turned red, got a bad headache, and the light became dim. Think of someone dimming the lights. However, those side effects went away in about an hour and it did improve my near sight. Maybe not 3 levels, but at least 2. It was great throughout the day. So, would i do it again? Maybe if i was doing something that i would like clear vision such as a sport or something i just couldn't wear reading glasses, but i would set aside an hour to lay in bed and get through those side effect. Definitely wont be using the drops daily, but maybe once in a while when i dont want to rely on readers.

Yeah, I pretty much had the same experience, I'd probably use it occasionally but I'm OK wearing contacts to read! I tried it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZqcoGygqt-fmqM

Do you mean the pinning of pupils like happens on some medications like opiates? Not that I would do this, but would your eyesight get better if you took a pain pill? Is that what you mean by making your pupils smaller?

I tried this morning for the 1st time. I am 54. I was very disappointed. I wanted this to be the miracle drop. I should have guessed that if it sounded too good to be true, it probably is. I'm sure I did have some improvement but not even close to not having to wear the reading glasses. And I did pay exactly $79 as you stated. I'll give it a go again tomorrow. But I am assuming that this is not something that the more you use, you get better results? And it was very strange because everything just seemed a little darker throughout daytime hours. I wish I watched your video before I spent the money and purchased it. Ps- I had RK surgery when I was 18 years old and I recently had to have cataract surgery in both eyes. My surgeon said he's seeing this in much younger patients probably due to all of the computers and screen time. What exactly did you mean that it can cause issues for cataract patients? Thank you.... it was very informative
@lapmobile53693 жыл бұрын
Because it makes your pupil smaller, it lets less light in so it'll make things darker. It's the opposite of what happens at night when your pupils get larger in darkness to let in more light.
@KalansKrafting3 жыл бұрын
@@lapmobile5369 yep I knew all of that before trying but hoped it would not be a deal breaker. For me, it was not effective.
@DrRupaWong3 жыл бұрын
Sad to hear it didn't work for you. The marketing makes it seem like it's a miracle drop for everyone, but if you look at the data, that's not the case. I'm going to try it on camera next week. I'm a little scared b/c of my tendency to get headaches. We'll see if it works for me.

Does this work with contacts to see far & reading glasses to see up close?

It should. You can put the drop in and then wait 5 minutes and then put the contacts in. But only about 33% of the people in the study got a 3 line improvement

@@DrRupaWong It works all day after putting in your contacts? I tried this for the first time about one week ago. I have a condition where my eyes like to stay dilated even bright light, this is causing me to have issues driving and seeing. I also have presbyopia and my eye doctor thought these drops would help with both. I put the drops in, they burned, but that was anticipated. What wasn't anticipated was the blinding headache that came on about five minutes after. In short, they a.) didn't work for the reasons prescribed, and b.)gave me an unbearable side effect that even if effective would not be tolerable. Do not waste your money. I am not sure who could be helped by these, but I certainly wasn't. The upshot is my insurance paid for 100% of them and so I am not out the $80.00 bucks that some commenters were.
