The results are in Heath, the little lady kicked your butt. I have a horizontal and have been thinking maybe a vertical would be less work at my age, 72. This vid just nailed my decision. A vertical and conveyor would be a sweet setup. Thank you for the comparison!
@hardworkingmanoutdoors6 ай бұрын
Yes she did! The vertical splitters are definitely easier to run solo in my opinion. Ultimately the horizontal with multi split wedges etc will win in overall production output but the vertical definitely has its place!
@GlenKent-n8n7 ай бұрын
It would not have mattered which splitter Racheal was running. She would have won. She is that much more proficient on either splitter. Not to mention she doesn’t waste time when she is handling wood. Throughout all of the videos she rarely has just one small piece of wood in her hand. Great video loads of fun.

If you want to further handicap the race between the vertical and horizontal splitters, require the scraps to be cleaned up. 😁 As was shown, for a solo operation, it is hard to beat a vertical splitter.

If I had a choice I would get the vertical with conveyer unless I wanted to use a box wedge then I would get a horizontal splitter.. Regular firewood I would get the vertical splitter. If I was making bundles and road side stands then I would get a horizontal splitter with box wedge. The only reason I would get a horizontal splitter is ifor the box wedge
@hardworkingmanoutdoors7 ай бұрын
I would love a box wedge for the horizontal machine. That does make horizontals much easier with the pullback arm and box wedge. Overall working alone and our situation the vertical has the advantage. We had an elevator and we’re producing bulk. The horizontal would definitely be the machine to use.

Vertical serves the purpose. My Northern Hydraulic is both but the Honda engine is to close to the I-beam. I've split oak rounds on the Vertical 6ft.in diameter. Between 75 and 80 pieces per round. You're 6 ft away from the splitter and you have to support the round until you get it in half.

Vertical definitely serves a purpose and does make busting up the big rounds easier.

Thanks, we try not to do commercials, we will share products we believe in and sometimes those videos can get a little long and appear like commercials. We always be sure to mention or mark the video if it is one we are obligated to do because we received a product. One cool thing about being offered a lot of products, which we turn down most is that we get to test and share more products. For instance we had a few laser engravers which we tried and thought were pretty good. Then we got offered a new brand and tried it. We quickly found out that we were using an inferior product and can now help others avoid spend their $$ on the lesser machine.
