It’s worth adding for those who mightn’t know, that Ary make what they call a 6.5-7x “Add-On Loupe” that attaches to the front of any Ary spectacle loupe. This means you can get magnification power comparable to the Behr double loupes. Ofrei has the best price for them that I can find.

I use the Ary for most work , a 10x Bergeon for oiling end stones. That’s all I need. I put mine on side ways and lately I see scratches on the bottom of my eyeglass lens from sliding the clamp across so I’ll try the way you fit it.

@@JDRichard I went to Cousins and the shop had gone from Birmingham UK. They are pretty uncontactable, no phone, no email. The only thing you can do is buy from them online and the reviews of their customer service is awful, so sadly no Ary Loupe yet.

Thanks for pointing this out. I have a cheap loupe that doesn't attach very well to my work glasses (so I don't dare try to flip it up for normal vision). I've added one for my next Cousins order.

Magnification is so important, if you can’t see it properly, you can’t hope to fix it. Sometimes a microscope is the best option, but loupes suffice most of the time. The Ary loupe is excellent, and another excellent option are the loupes that attach to glasses made by Behr. Behr made both single and double loupes. The lenses can be rotated into and out of use, so a double loupe with lenses of two different strengths lets you choose between 3 levels of magnification - the lower power lens, the higher power lens or both lenses combined for maximum magnification. Behr made lenses in several strengths, so you can customise a double loupe to use any two of the available lenses. Unfortunately they went out of business a while ago, so eBay and the like are the only sources today. This is the loupe system that George Daniels favoured, and he can be seen wearing them on his eyeglasses in much of the footage of him in his workshop.

@@mercuriall2810 I totally agree. I have all array of different devices and loupes that I’ve purchased over the years to give me better vision when doing watch repair. I do have the double flip over one you’re talking about, but I found it very difficult to attach to the arm of the glasses.

@@JDRichard The Behr loupe does indeed attach to the arm of the glasses. The original design was designed to fit wire frame & arm glasses. The later designs, which I think were called the Behr Universal were designed to fit both wire and plastic frames, and whilst there may be glasses they don’t suit, they quickly, easily and securely attach to almost all glasses. There are other single and double loupes that are similar to the Behr, where the clamp that attaches to the arm of the glasses is fiddly to attach securely and may not suit many glasses frames. If you are having difficulty, it’s likely that it isn’t a Behr Universal loupe. The Ary is excellent, and between it and your microscope, I think you’re well covered for magnification, but if you’re interested in trying a Behr double, keep an eye out for one of their Universal models. I’ve never come across a loupe that attaches to the arm of glasses that comes close in quality to the Behr.
