There seems to be a misconception going on here, so I'm going to clarify. When I say that homosexuality is "wrong", I only mean in the context of the show itself, as homosexuality is seen as a negative thing in the show (but in a satirical way). I do not believe that homosexuality is a negative thing, and I'm surprised that anyone would even think that of me. But here we are, I suppose...

I am an atheist, and after watching this cartoon I realized that it isn't religion that it is mocking, it is mocking the bigotry of Christian fundamentalism. Orel learns to become a better Christian and better human being after he realises his father is a jerk.

Arturo Reyes Cortez I interpreted it as morals vs enviorment, how someone who is born kind in an ideology of good, but is in a environment that blurs the lines of good and evil, being raised in a broken family, and in general just how things can turn out for one can be influential, in a good or bad way.

+Know It Guy That is interesting. Orel is a good kid because he believes in Christianity, but everyone around him are so delusional or selfish that they lack virtue. The only characters that have been rational and good are a Buddhist lesbian, a Jewish doctor, and Orel's atheist grandfather. No one is perfect, but goodness is clear.

In the end the show of moral Orel is about an optimistic kid who is sadly raised in a nuclear toxic family, along being surrounded by a toxic community (with only some minor exceptions), that despite his upbringing and loss and physical and mental pain and trauma, he learns to over come them in his own way, and in doing so learns from the mistakes and sins of his father and starves to become a better man, all without abandoning his beliefs and principles and ends the cycle of violence to give his kids a much brighter future.

All 3 seasons have a different tone. Season 1 was trying to push boundaries deliberately, it was originally aired out of sequence and a few of the episodes not being aired for a good long while. The second and longest season kind of settled into a bit of a formula, it backed off on the more overt stuff for the most part, showing the masks that people wear and their little cracks, until the 2 part finale, Nature, where shit got real. The third season in my opinion is some of the best television ever written. It takes the focus off of Orel and puts it on all the other characters. It does some wonderful world building, by taking off the character's masks and showing us their flaws, and doing it in a way that makes them human. It's not all ugliness either, there are legitimate happy endings, the unresolved plot threads just kind of feel like "that's life" , as are the sad and bitter sweet endings. As for Clay, I think he's the most tragic character on the show. He's obviously not in a place he wants to be, was manipulated heavily by everyone around him into his position, and the years of bitterness that this has given him is what destroys his one shown chance of a happy life.
@GagsAnimation

I think that's what makes Clay such a great villain for the show. That and also how he represents everything Orel is against.

@@corymenedez2369 I can definitely tell that the show was made by people who weren’t religious, which can be especially clear with a lot of the jokes in the first two seasons, but at the same time, I do think that the main point of the show was trying to make a statement on the hypocrisy and dangers of fundamentalist Christianity. This is shown that even though Orel is shown more and more how awful the people around him are, he never truly blames God or Christianity, since I think he understood that for all his parents, teachers and neighbors were happy to present themselves as “true” Christians, they all were shown to ignore and disregard a lot of facets of the faith they said they were in all for their own interests (adultery, being alcoholic, being unforgiving, or just basic common sense). This is why in the end, he still stays a Christian, because he figured out that it shouldn’t be used to oppress others, or to excuse your own vices, and is able to be a well-functioning human being. Even Scott Adsit (co-writer/voice actor of Clay) said that when he showed his Christian sister it, she felt that they were just making fun of Christianity in general, but after a few years, she watched the whole show, and realized that it wasn’t meant to insult her faith, just how unfortunately, a lot of people butcher it.

I actually feel like Moral Orel's best comparison is to Bojack Horseman. They definitely have very different writing styles, but they both sort of start out as this comedy, and then become darker shows about mental health and shitty people hurting each other. I think Moral Orel is a bit different in that it leans more into satire. I'm sad they had to rush the last season, because I feel like there was so much more it could've told. And as someone raised by evangelicals, the show is also very relatable, and I wish it would've touched more on how all of this affected Orel's his beliefs.

My favorite episode is "The Lord's Prayer". It showcases one of the major targets of the show's satire: dividing oneselves based on insignificant differences. And Orel and Christina were cute together: it had a wonderful Romeo/Juliet plot and watches almost like a Romeo/Juliet AU where Romeo and Juliet were pulled apart by the feud and the Capulets left the city. And since Romeo and Juliet is by far my favorite Shakespeare book, and up there in the books I like period, I'm always game for a variation on the basic premise. EDIT: I should mention, I'm a Christian who grew up in a Christian household, so the friction around The Lord's Prayer was something I could easily connect to actual life, (mostly with Bible versions, not the Lord's Prayer specifically, but it's not like that sort of thing never happens: when I was younger I used to insist on saying certain Bible verses the way in which I had learned them even when speaking together in church) so the episode probably stuck with me better for that.

Do you not get it? The show isn't bashing religion. I can't recall anything that said religion is bad. The show is a commentary for the people who take religion to far. @@EyeofSol299 I think it may help to shorten the story bits so the beginning is no more than 2 or 2 and a half minutes or so and each story bit is no longer than 45 seconds. Since the prior comment used Nostagia critic as a example I went to his Balto review using the first 10 minutes as a sample and the first 10 minutes of your video as a sample . In that video's first 10 minutes he used 2 minutes and 28 seconds in total for each story break where are you used 6 minutes and 20 seconds, so as you can see the example review only uses about 25% of its time on story in that example where as your review uses about 63 percent of its time on story in the first 10 minutes. As this is a story-based review it is important to have the story frame or compliment the review and not compete with it. Integration of the story is also important so perhaps use jokes or other form of transition so certain parts like the record scratch part blend a bit better. Lastly I really think your review would benefit from background music. I know copyright is a (demonitized word) and you probably wouldn't want to be stuck with something generic, but scribble kibble has a great video on getting music for videos legally. kzbin.info/www/bejne/moa2imaLhr-nntE However, If I may add some positivity so this isn't just a long constructive criticism comment, I do like that you reviewed something less common and that you included yourself and an edited sorta cosmic background rather than just an avatar drawing like a lot of other reviewers. I feel like you have potential for some really impressive reviews in the future it just needs some polish. Forgive me if this comment is outdated since this vid is old.

Just in case you haven't watched the show(or the review) yet, I can promise you: She spoils VERY little, if anything in this review. It was the review that led me to watch the show, and EVERY major spoiler was kept in the dark. The only thing she said that COULD count as a spoiler, I'm glad she did, because it's a heads up for anyone going into the show for the first time. Basically, the show was cancelled, and not given enough episodes in the final season to cover ALL the loose ends, so there are some dangling story lines. They're not TOO noticeable the first time through, but they do exist. You may need to watch the series twice to even spot them.

That is the one great thing about this show, once the drama and serious stuff starts happening, it really sticks and has actual impact on the show through the characters. Most adult cartoons (Western) are like Family Guy, when something important or serious happens; don't bother trying to become invested, because you know it will eventually reset, fart in your face, and laugh at you for becoming emotionally invested. After Watching this review I went and watched season one and some of season two (I'll continue it later) Anyway, I watched it when it used to play in adult swim. But I was very young when it aired originally. I'm almost 20, but now that I'm watching it, I understand all the stuff I didn't. I only understood some of the comedy and not a lot of the depressing backstories. But now I do

Could you do the anime Bleach? I've looked up reviews of it, but there don't seem to be that many. I'm not sure why... (It is rather long, so I'll understand if: A. You decide not to review it, or B. it just takes a long time for you to finish a review of it.

***** Alrighty then. I would LOVE to see you take on Grojband (trust me, it is that insultingly bad yet mean-spirited of a musical canadian show that makes other musical animated stuff look like Rocky Horror Picture Show, Little Shop of Horrors, Avenue Q and Repo: The Genetic Opera). if not, that's okay, I got something better than that. I'm thinking both "American Dragon: Jake Long" and "The Life & Times of Juniper Lee".

Cool thanks, dudette! But be warned though, once you see it, you'll see why it's worth reviewing (Or Bashing, whatever helps ya) that Grojband show with a bloody pitchfork, fully loaded shotgun and flamethrower. Forgive me for my ranting, it's just that Grojband made me feel insulted on a personal level due to it's surprisingly mean-spirited vibes and insulting as hell morals that makes Sonic Underground look like Class of 3000, only god-like. Anywho, again thanks for adding the show into your list.

if possible make a review bout loonatics unleashed, many people hate this show, personally I believe that this show does not deserve so much hate. before this show,I suffered by watching the classic looney tunes, bugs bunny kept repeating the same jokes in every episode, taz was dumb, pepe le pew was a douchebag, there was absolutely nothing interesting with that rooster whose name I don't remember, all episodes with sylvester and tweety were identical, lola did not appear at all,and more problems.the only good episodes were those with daffy duck and road runner in this spin off, they became super heroes,I don't see many things wrong with that,we stopped seeing the same episodes and over and over again,we had some variety. I am not saying that loonatics unleased is a masterpiece or something like that, but I don't think it deserves so much hate. also I loooooooved the looney tunes show of 2011,they did everything right,I did not have any problem with any of the characters and daffy duck became funnier than ever.

I wasn’t allowed to watch Adult Swim when it came out. I came up in a religious household and in my teen years this show made me think of the town I was in. This bothered my husband that I could relate so much to this show. I never hurt anyone to the extreme as Oral but it reminded me of myself. I wanted to so badly be a good person and help people that I didn’t realize the evil my kindness was doing. So for me, it was a slightly darker show of the Bible Belt and I loved it. My husband can’t watch it which is funny because he can watch death and war in R rated films but I can’t. I guess seeing a little light in some of the characters like Stephanie and Oral made me kinda happy.

It's not just religion I have a problem with, it's how people can be so hypocritical about whatever their ideaology. With feminists it's 'we support all women unless they don't agree with us then we'll burn them at the stake.' With democrats it's 'we accept everyone who isn't white, christian or straight.' With fandoms it's 'if you don't like this ship or enjoy the more disliked stuff in the franchise we'll castrate you with a spork.' Can't I just have my opinion with out being gutted like a trout?

I don't like religious cartoons. I love King of dreams and Prince of Egypt but those movies were just retelling the bible as stories, JUST STORIES. The animation in Veggie tales is okay and the morals are good until they go to the stupid ass religious stuff. I honestly think the show would have been okay if they didn't put the religious stuff into it, the show is essentially kid friendly versions of War room and other religious movies which are just god damn Christian propaganda. I firmly believe in letting kids learn about god and the bible when they aren't impressionable little kids. I just want to see the looks on the faces of the kids who watched the Veggietale versions of bible stories and find out about all the incest, rape, slavery, genocides and out right horrible stuff that the Bible says that this okay to do because those people are inferior and God hates the inferior and those don't conform to his ridiculous standards that humans by nature can't live up to because they go against nature in general. I truly hate what people are willing to do to their kids to make them believe in god, some parents will beat or abandon their kids for being gay or atheists. I can't stand that herd like mentality people can be programmed with if they become so devote and buy into the bull shit without asking questions. I'm fine if you believe in God and you're okay if people you know don't believe in God or in the same god you do. I just think that you should let people accept your world view on their own terms and not because you shoved it down their throats their whole lives. I honestly don't care what your religious beliefs are, you can believe God is a stuffed rabbit for all I care, I just don't like spreading them by force or by teaching people this is the only truth. I believe God is a question that has no answer, atheists could be wrong or right and theists could be wrong or right and we'll never know. I plan on having a cartoon show and one of the enemies in the show is this alien races who are a bunch of cultists trying to get the population of the main characters' home planetary system to join their religion . . . by force. The inhabitants are atheists (they have good reasons to be) and they really don't care if you believe in a deity or not, these aliens are essentially terrorists and the natives are arresting them solely because these people are willing to commit mass genocide in the name of their god. There is a different species with a religion as well but this religion is non-expansionist and the aliens don't care that the natives are atheists because they know that if you want people to come over to your side you let choose on their own volition and not because of a death threat. These guys are allies to the atheistic natives because they let them do their own thing while the other guys are enemies because they spread their religion violently, ignore reality, are practically psychotic and deem those who don't follow their religion as inferior beings that should be purged. It's clear what the message is there.

Wow what an amazing video for an amazing show keep up the great work Spoilers ahead be warned Something I always found intresting is that the entire plot line of clay associating compassion with physical abuse is really heartbreaking when you realize that the reason clay is so abusive is that's how he shows his love for Orel and if I remember "which is doubtful" that last season has pretty much none of that showing clays hate consuming everything what a fucked show
