Well... they have evolved where Leopards will prey on them. Mother nature gave them something more to fight back with, than just their wits, speed and climbing ability. Those canines are about the size of medium built cats. Did you notice the male Gibbons have a big boned skull crest? Like male Gorillas it gives them anchor points for powerful jaws.

The Orang introductions were spot=on. All that frolicking, what a delight to watch. The gibbons, so slender and balletic but the reminder from Kat of their teeth and ability to inflict a painful bite. Wow. The paper mache hives - BRILLIANT idea, care staff - what dedication and ingenuity. What a delightful episode and recap of the losses and welcomes. Perfect.

Orangutans sure are adaptive. To anyone who's never seen it, there's a story out here on KZbin (and probably elsewhere too), about a big male orangutan and an adult female in a zoo that had a baby. And shortly after, the mother died... Kind of like one of the babies in this episode. Anyway, the FATHER stepped up in raising the baby as much as he was able to! I just thought that was pretty awesome. I don't remember how they worked out the logistics of feeding the baby, but that information shouldn't be hard to find.

Those caregivers are absolutely admirable. Not only do they provide common care but they take care of the monkey's entertainment. I feel they are part of the monkeys' families.

At the end every episode there is a dedication to Jim Cronin. This one added April Bradley. April was one of carers and died by suicide in October, 2016 leaving behind two small children. Depression can be fatal and is nothing to be ignored. Symptoms can be very different in men and women. Please, if you or someone you know might need help, contact the nearest help you can. In the US, there are suicide hotlines people can reach out to. I assume there is something similar in the UK. My prayers are with April and all those who knew and loved her. RIP.
