What a neat concept! I've heard of starting from the 3rd, or 7th, but this sounds even nicer. Thank you!

Don't get me wrong, I like the lesson, but I am tired of the overused click bait word "trick" in the title. It's not a trick it's a musical concept

I found that exchanging the 9 for the root on a 251 will create 3 new chords. The ii7 becomes IVmaj7. The V7 becomes vii7b5. The Imaj7 becomes vi7.
@marquee-moon
@marquee-moon Жыл бұрын
I can see that with the 2 and the 5, but doesn’t that make the I (now D-E-G-B) a iii7, rather than vi7?

Yes, you are correct. I stand corrected! Thank you! I think Richie is the best teacher on KZbin. This particular lesson lead me to using the iii pentatonic scale on Maj 7th chords.

I’m a metal guitarist, and I’ll stay a metal guitarist. But I’m interested in expanding my horizons. I can do my blues, but jazz is... something else. Where do I start with learning jazz? And do you know chord shapes I could use with a lot of gain that’ll still sound cool?

I'm not into jazz guitar but always trying to expend my knowledge. This lesson sure adds something to that. It makes me think about theory and how to use it.

Can do same thing except exchange the 5th with the # 11 instead .
@petedavid9689
@petedavid9689 4 жыл бұрын
.... if you switch the 5 for a sharp 11 ( F sharp in key if C major) that would infer a Lydian sound in the context of a major scale. If you did same with a dominant chord then that would produce a Lydian dominant sound. On a minor chord I guess this would produce a half diminished sound. So it seems like this change has a more powerful effect on the tonality then swapping a 1 for a 9?
