Another example: "Ilocano" which is a language and the varieties of Ilocano are " Ilocano in Pangasinan, Ilocano in Isabela, Ilocano in Baguio" and " Ilocano in Olongapo" , so, if your hometown is in Pangasinan and you visit Baguio and still understand some words or sentences it's because of varieties of Ilocano.
